Is the ditch full of water? Does it look hungry?

Yes there was water in the ditches yesterday. We have had a good bit of rain over the last couple of months.About 5-6 weeks ago, the field and road were nearly completely under water due to all the rain we got in a short period.

RV's still come in and go out thru the same gate as always. Unless it is a huge bus like motorhome, we have never really had any problem getting RV's in or out the gate.

I think Wayne was talking about access to the far right side of the field across the ditch (for RVs)

Hey David,Is the land owner still going to allow access to the lower part of the field for the RV's? Can't wait for the event!

Well we have not done anything to as far as a bridge to get across the ditch on the right side of the field. But last year there was a couple of travel trailers that went across it with no problem. At that point is just a dip in the terrain, I would not really call it a ditch. Anybody that wants to set an RV up over in that area is welcome to.

Man, I hate that I will be missing this event for the first time in 4 years...regardless of the weather it's always a great time.

Have fun!

We have a decent plan to manage traffic this year, this should solve the parking issues, it should also preserve the high area to the lower part of the field.

Last year cars made a mess of things and it was just parking free for all. Our local members have agreed to take turns during the busy times to guide traffic.

Also, if David hasn't mentioned it, the local spectators are going to be guided to parking across the street in the other field which should eliminate the grid lock.

If anyone needs anything just PM me and I'll be happy to help.

Motels:
Best Western: 205-481-1950 exit 108 on I-59/20
Hampton Inn: 205-425-2010 exit 108 on I-59/20
Jameson Inn: 205-428-3194 exit 108 on I-59/20
Holiday Inn Express 205-424-2600 exit 108 on I/59/20
Comfort Inn: 205-428-3999 exit 108 on I-59/20
Sleep Inn: 205-424-0000 exit 6 on I-459
(mention heli event at two above for special rate closest to field)

The Sleep Inn is closest (2miles) to the field. I believe the rate is $60 a night or less. In past years it has been $55 a night.
The Comfort Inn is owned by same person, it is about 7 miles from the field, The rate there is about $75 a night. All the other motels listed are at the same location the Comfort Inn is located.

Sleep Inn $69 a night. That's what they told me yesterday. Damn that was higher than Orlando rates.

I just talked to the Sleep Inn. The Comfort Inn and Sleep Inn are owned by same company. The rate at the Sleep Inn he told me will be 59.99 a night and the Comfort Inn will be 69.99 a night. He is going to call me back in a few minutes and let me know for sure. The only way to get the event special rate to mention it is the RC Heli event.

This is the rate below. Tell them RC Heli event and you will be given that rate. If you have already made reservations and they have given you a higher rate. I suggest you call them and cancel the previous reservations and then make reservations for the special rate.

Sleep Inn 205-424-0000 $60 a night plus tax
Comfort Inn 205-428-3900 $70 a night plus tax.

Yeah, I told her the Central Alabama Heli FunFly just up the road from there. It was a girl so it figures it would get messed up.

I'll call them

Thanks David

Just got off the phone with them and they already corrected the rate. Apparently David, your call reminded the guy to tell his clerks.
