Default Hirobo Sceadu Evo .50---- should I buy?

Hey guys I was thinking of purchasing a Hirobo Sceadu Evo .50 from a guy I met at the field when flying my T-Rex. After landing we got into conversation stating he has this heli sitting in his basement for 2 years. He said he bought it 4-5 years ago new and the last time he flew had a boom strike and never fixed it.
I would need to replace the main blades, tail boom and the main shaft for peace of mind. I would also need a starter shaft and glow plug igniter.
Anyway he offered it to me for $100. The pictures look great, very clean no other damage or canopy damage for that matter.

So...should I buy this and how much will it cost to get her back in the air again??

Thanks guys!

i say ya go for it.

i have 2 evo's and love them.
parts are not bad. if it had a boom strick i would get...

boom
boom supports
main shaft
feathering shaft
blades
tail shaft

i say tail shaft because it it fell out of the sky it may have bent. so pic one up.

wow price...

with out looking it up, off the top of my head i say...
$60 ??
thats if you get wood main blades. if you get c/f main blades well the cheapest set of 600mm c/f blades are about $40 .
its a great flying heli and they are durable .

o forgot 2 parts you may need.

flybar
tail control rod

if you get it look it over first as you may not need all them parts.
im thinking in the worst case scenario.

but replace the shafts no matter what, and blades and boom.

i hop that helps.

Bought it!

Went over the entire thing the only thing it needs is a main blade, tail bom, main shaft, feather shaft and flybar.

Sourced some of these parts and it appears to be farirly reasonable....

I CANT WAIT TO FLY THIS!!!

The Sceadu is a great machine and most SDX parts can be used on it.

RCJapan is a good place for parts.

I will never forget the first Sceadu I saw, I fell in love with it.

I have been flying these old shuttles for quite some time, & found this Sceadu Evo 50
last weekend and bought it last night.

So far it's looking pretty good. Pulled the main shaft and took the motor out tonight so I can service the bearings and make sure it's 100%. Looking pretty good under the hood so far!

The guy that I bought it off was tail in hovering an MSR and figured he could handle it
so he bought it off another club member that was hovering a Blade SR, he started it and was afraid of it. It's a few years old but as far as I can tell the helicopter has only been test hovered a few times buy one of the club instructors. It's got a few finger prints on it but If things go well I will be test running it in a week. Tearing holes in the sky after a few warm up flights.

Anyone ever die the tail fin and stabilizer? I'd like to drop these ones in black die and blacken them if the parts will take die.

Hope you love your Sceadu I can't weight to fly mine!

I just bought a sceadu evo.

The orange on the canopy , is that spray painted or decal. I want to spray mine but it looks like blown nylon or........ not sure how easy to paint.

Steve.

I am also considering getting a Sceadu Evo 50. I found a place that still has a new kit available. Is it OK to put any 50 size engine in this heli? On the Hirobo Model Enterprise website there is a note about how the SDX needs to have some parts upgraded if the newer OS55HZ Hyper and YS56R engines are to be used. Since the Sceadu is an even older model than the SDX, I am wondering if it can only accept an older engine such as an OS50. Thanks in advance.

From the Hirobo web page. The upgrades can also apply to the Sceadu Evo.

■ Notice for using OS 55HZ Hyper and YS 56 SR engines

Both OS and YS are releasing new engines 55HZ Hyper and 56SR. These engines are
much more powerful than current 50 size engines. To prevent accidents or crushes, if
you are planning to use these engines on Hirobo SDX, read following notice before
using those engines.

1. Using Hardened drag bolt (2532-044) is recommended.

2. Do not use main blades which do not come with metal collars. We recommend using Hirobo main blades.

3. Using upgrade main gear 0412-169 (87T) or 0412-291 (89T) is recommended.

4. Using upgrade SDX-G High torque auto rotation Assy(0412-336) is recommended.

5. Pitch up servos should have mote than 9kg torque.

6. Keep main rotor rpm less than 2,000rpm.

7. If there is any vibration caused by parts getting loose, stop flying immediately to
check or replace parts.
Before each flight, make sure to check the machines carefully.
