Repacked tail grip thrust bearings last night. The radial bearings in the grips are still perfect.
6 enjoyable flights this afternoon. I am now on 97 flights with this heli.

Haha I hear that! I come in fast and kill it at 15 feet up and set it down real nice and soft but there's no room for error because no head speed is least after that really.

Lol. You are braver than me. When yu hit TH at 15ft, where do yu maintain your pitch? Do yu let it go negative or keep it slightly positive?

This is an older video of my old 450 setup on 3gx and one of my best attempts [ame]http://youtu.be/OZ9zaSfLd9Q[/ame] This was a almost tip over on the 500 when it was still flybar [ame]http://youtu.be/E0U3kc3fGjg[/ame] I can botch the landing bad with the 500 now and it's like a robot! I shut it off higher than in that video now and it's more smooth.

Nick, I hate you for having such a beautiful place to fly in! I was fortunate to get to live in Monterey for a couple of years, and wish I could somehow move back. Don't think life has that in store for me though.

I put her down today at around flight #30 now for its first crash. Was attempting a full tail rotation piro flip which I can do and I messed up bad.....
Damage isn't as bad as I was expecting but it did take out its fair share of things

Yeah it's no where near a rekit. I purposely got the efl head when I went flybarless to save crash damage and it sure did, launched a head link and saved all my cyclic servos! Just took out the usual- boom, front tt gears, tt, blades and main shaft. The feathering spindle is perfect still but for how cheap they are it's getting a new one and I'm getting the helioption thrusted main shaft bearing block setup since my align bearings are a bit notchy.

I'm also using the EFL head for that reason, and can report similar results. I crashed my 500 a couple of weeks ago, and thought I had stripped the gears in one of my servos. But after getting the head off, the servo is moving just fine! Replacement grip bearings arrived in the mail today, so I'm all set to fix the head, and get this baby back in the air!

What did I do to my 500 Pro today?
Finally going to tear mine down today to replace all of the sloppy servo gears and worn parts, and do a full "freshen up" of the model.
Ive decided this would also be the perfect time to do a true 500mm stretch with the parts I have accumulated and pre tested for this purpose. Looks like it should be a simple conversion, and Im hoping for a low head speed, sport setup with my longer boom and larger tail blades, but it remains to be seen how much of the extra leverage the longer boom gives me will be cancelled out by the longer main blades. Should be fun and a interesting experiment

Total cost for the conversion was about $130 for me, with $100 of that being the main and tail blades, so its not so bad. Should all be finished and flying within the next ten days or so

Well, I don't exactly have a 500 Pro, but mine isn't exactly an ESP anymore either, and there isn't a "What did you do with your generic 500 today?" Thread, so...
I flew my 100th flight with my 500! I am happy to report that the i2rc boom mount and tail grips have completely resolved the tail hold issue I was having, and she is flying beautifully! The only complaint I have is that the replacement canopy that I bought from helidirect is much more peach colored than the last one I had, which was much more yellow. I'm not a fan of the one I have now. Of course, that means I probably won't crash it forever, and I'll have to just keep using this ugly canopy on general principle for luck!

Congrats on your century Gladius.. Yeah I ended 3 flights from my century weekend before last, and since then I have not had a chance to fly. I feel like I am going crazy. But hoping to get a few packs in tomorow.
