Default JR Transmitter and FM BLUE wire?

Hello FM Users:

With your help, I can get the installation of a FlyMentor completed! All that's left to do prior to a test flight is to get the FM gain control functioning. I'm using JR XP-8102 and have retained my original gyro and am controlling it via Aux 2. This leaving only the gear channel available for the blue wire. When the blue wire is connected and the two position switch is flipped, the indicator on the FM changes from red to nothing.

QUESTION #1: How do I confirm if the gain is actually changing?

QUESTION #2 With only a two position switch, what options of control are available? Of course I would like all three.

QUESTION #3: Is FM Gain the same as "Balance Gain" on the Advanced Page?

QUESTION #4: The Advanced Page is intimidating. How do I learn what the functions of all the parameter are and how can I gain the knowledge on how to make intelligent decisions as to how to set these values?

Surely this information exists, but I've read for three days and am on the brink of divorce with my wife. Save a marriage and help me out.

Thanks, Bill

Your FM indicator should show Red=OFF, Flashing Green/Green=POS mode and RED&GREEN=BAL Mode.

A follow up since my previous four question posting.

When the FM is connected to computer and blue wire is removed, and I the gain on the advance screen is moved to the negative side, I have a bright red on the FM indicator. When the gain is moved to positive side, the indicator almost goes out, but there is a very dim red indication. Then, when the blue wire is connected to the FM, and I flip the two position gear switch I also get the same indications on the FM indicator, Red and near off. However, in either case, the swash corrects for any tilting of the heli. I think I have a bad unit. Agree, disagree?

Just to add to what Pril has said. Moving the slider to the left should show red and green led, centre red and right side flashing or solid green. Your problem has never been reported this before but it looks like you have a faulty unit.

TO ALL THAT HAVE TRIED TO HELP ME:

It has turned out that all my goofy problems that I have been posting on this site have been due to a faultly FM unit. HobbyKing didn't question anything, they just gave me a RA # and an address to return it to. For me, this is a unique response from HK. Must not have been the first complain they have received on FM.

Thanks for all the assistance that has been offered.
