Well, just ordered the kit without blades. It will be a slow build as I will have to buy a few components at a time

Ditch the 2and1 IMO your asking for trouble.
My set up...

Os 37 / hatori
Align servos ( doing the job for now )
Ikon fbl ( using its govenor )
Switch glo
1450mah 6.6v life straight in...
Cyb 430 fbl main
72mm kddb tail
I LOVE THIS BIRD...
My 700n and 550e are getting jealous and a little dusty

How is the push glow?

I like the 2-1 for starting ease and to power the servos.

Does the ikon governor work well with nitro? I was thinking of that one as well but wasn't sure how the gov was.

I did a maiden on two different helis today, a goblin 500 and the NX4.

The goblin I am running the ar7200bx and the Ikon on the NX4 both helis are running the savox 1250mg for cyclic servos.

Both helis fly great, of course the goblin was ready to rip from the word go because there is no engine break in that is needed.

The tail seams better on the goblin but of course it is running a full size tail servo and the engine on the NX4 is still in the break in stages.

I am happy that I got both, the goblin is a great build and was pretty much perfect from the first flight. I have set up many helis on the beast so that could be part of it. Pure power and smooth forward flight.

The NX4 is very fast and smooth in forward flight, not as much power but I am still only running on throttle curves. I like the fact that I can leave the canopy on and just refuel and go fly again. 12 to 13 flights a gallon and probably the same weight to power ratio of a 90 nitro with lower parts cost.

Both helis have no visible vibes and both feel very nice in the air. I do have a couple issues with the Ikon that I need to figure out.

First problem is in forward flight when I did pitch pumps the nose goes up. Any advice on what to change in the Ikon setting to address this. I know in the beast there is a setting that fixes that.

The second issues is how to get the gov. To engage on the Ikon? Everything is setup in the software but when I go to idle 2 where the gov. Is enable it will kill the throttle to just above an idle?

Did you hook it up to the comp and go to advanced setting and go to gov page and check ( manually ) that its reading your magnets.. the check mark is very faint in the magnet box and is hard to see..
Also you have your throttle curve set correctly in the tx ( since you built a goblin and a nx4 I assume its correct )
I was having a strange issue with the trottle on my 700n and nx4 / ikon's. ..
On the set up page where you move all your end points to 100 100...I found that when I did that with the trottle it caused my servo to freeze on closed side and slowy it would release and move freely again..I had to have my tx throttle end points at 100 100 not the 135 or so it would take to get them to be 100 100 in software setup page...on the govenor setup page where it shows throttle percentage ( slider bar ) mine is at like 11% to 81% but works fine.. my tx curves are at 0 15 30 30 30...60 60 60 60 60 and 100 100 100 100 100 on dx8 tx
My head speeds are 2400 2500 2700
i removed blades ( head and tail) hooked ikon to comp and went to gov page and started heli and visually saw all head speeds where correct per my settings and fmode setup.
Hope this helps some how..

I had a 2@1 fail on my 700n causing a brown out and crash...my research on it showed its not the most reliable out there. After extensive research and a post on this forum I decided to run a lifepack 6.6v...removing the bec all together and one more component that can fail...I run life 6.6 on my 700 and nx4 and honestly for me its been a no regret decision. ..I get about 4-5 flights per pack and have two for each bird. Fly one charge one = flying all day long
Oh ya and switch glo I have it aux3 on dx8 on knob..turn knob start bird love it..have a gryphon mini booster on 700 it awesome to...had I not bought the gryphon before I discovered the switchglo it would be on my 700 as well
I bought the grypgon to replace the 2and1 that failed in my 700 that caused crash.

Yea the very faint check mark Is there when I move the fan. I bought a laptop just for the purpose of checking at field and after installing software I never checked it was working, of course it didn't work when I needed it ( windows 8 )

I will look at my numbers but I'd did all the items needed in setup. I was getting the green bar in all the different modes.

Idle 2 is the only mode that the gov is setup on and I have 100/100/100 and it is setup for 2700 in idle 2

Look at your tx throttle end points are they 100 100 or like 130 128 ( thats what mine would have been to get to 100 100 on setup page...
Stupid question ...its not reversed on gov page ( throttle I mean )
Does the throttle work normally when not governed ( with linear curve.. good movement no binding, sticking or freezing. .

Do you by chance have a pic with the goblin 500 next to the nx4? I also have the goblin 500

Charles,

I ended up going through every thing again and noticed my lower end ATV on the throttle was only 65 to get 100% in the Ikon software. So i went to the advanced menu and messed with the throttle max and min. sliders till i could get my ATV closer to 100.

I took the blades off and ran it up and went to my two idle ups and it was pretty close to the preset head speed.

Thanks again

Buy the looks of it if they came out with a longer boom you could run true 500mm blades

If your talking about the goblin 500, they are 500mm blades. I have also heard ppl running the 523mm edge blades as well.

i think you may be in for a treat, today i started to lean mine out after the break in. WOW it has come alive. running 13 degrees and its quite a pleasure to fly now. im at 3 click under a full turn. i still dont know for sure what my headspeed is but tomorrow im going to birmingham for a funfly and i'll either find someone with a tach or buy one.
im at 90% in my gov menu running all the stock stuff. another thing that has help out in the way it moves is turning up pitch boost. much much better

Yeah I'm stoked. Got the motor on the way.

What fbl system you using?

I'm leaning towards the ikon for the auto level and hear the governor works great.
