I just started assembling my 700e 3g, and went to take the sensor apart to add some silicone. Well, no need, mine was already done from the factory. Mine is a new kit purchased in January.

Nope. I can't get it apart, it is filled with silicone and the sensor is stuck to the case.

New Align 3g with siliconed sensors
My Trex500 FBL that i purchased in October 2010 also came with some silicone on the sensors from the factory, however their mod didn't have the silicone touching all of the sensors.
Just finished gooping and sealing all the sensors together on friday. I made sure that all of the sensors had contact with the silicone and put the case back together. First test flight was Saturday and it's like i have a new bird. Thanks again Luke for figuing this one out. |

Jeff's 3G Mod & Settings
Hi all,
I finally made my decision on how I wanted to modify my 3G sensor system and software setup. I decided to go with the Zeal tape for on the top side for the aileron, elevator and rudder gyro sensors. I also tried two different approaches for the bottom side inside the sensor under the circuit board. On my Trex 500 ESP I only did the Zeal tape on the top side with nothing on the bottom. On my Trex 700 Nitro, I did the same on top but then I also added Align gyro gel on the bottom, so the board with the sensors is sort of “sandwiched” inside the case. Both seem to work well, but I think I will continue onto my other helicopters using the top and bottom approach. I followed most of the steps here to a "T", so thanks a lot for the great write up. I am curious if any of you could offer some more thoughts based on my screens below. Both helicopters are using these settings in the Align 3G 2.1 program. I am curious if there are any settings that look “off”. For instance, I think I have WAY to much roll and pitch (ail / elev) gain dialed in on my 700 – seems to get a little fidgety in a hover, but other than that handles a beating on the sticks. Are your gains at 100 on ail / elev? Thanks guys for your thoughts – I appreciate it. - Jeff |

Hi Guys,
I just bought one and have updated it to V2.1, opened it up and have removed the tabs, I have two things, can I use any of these or should I go and buy the E6000. One is Automotive Goop. The other one is Ultra Copper, RTV gasket making stuff. If I can use any of these, which one would be better. Thanks |

Best to use a product that is non corrosive to electronics......just to be safe in the long run.

has anyone else tried hotglue?
i did on mine and it makes a huge difference plus it is easy to remove. i just put enough to tie all 3 sensors together. before i couldnt get off the ground now i can hover in a small room. still have to work on the tail setup it kicks out but the gain isnt setup yet

avoid using "goop" the solvent in this stuff can lift paint thru a sheet of plastic.
One guy here had at least 1 failure using it. The "sensor safe" silicones work (ultra black, grey, copper, etc), and Johndabear has used the E6000 successfully.

OK, so, I'll use the Permatrex Ulltra copper then, I searched the thread and found a few guys here who used that stuff on their 3Gs. Thanks

After quickly reading through this thread I have a couple of questions before I begin the sensor mod.
Is standard 5 min epoxy safe to secure the pins as has been recommended? Is there an online source for the electronic safe silicone that you guys would recommend or are there other stores in a typical small town that could carry it? I cant seem to locate any at my local Radio Shack type store. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the tips guys!
I found the Ultra Copper RTV silicone that has been mentioned several times in the thread at Walmart of all places. I thought that RTV silicone would be at electronics stores and didn’t realise that this stuff was commonly used in automotive projects. I am going to do the mod later this weekend and will still have 99.98% of the tube left if anyone wants to save themselves a trip to Walmart.

I used the PErmatrex Ultra Copper RTV I had, 5 minute expoxy on the connector. Installed it on the 500. This is my first attempt at FBL, the 3G was easy to setup. Dials at 12 o clock, flashed it with 2.1
Here is a quick maiden flight. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQKVayPMrsQ[/ame] |

What issues exactly? I struggled a lot with my 450 PRO using the 3G with a FFF elevator porpoising, the main culprit is main blades as the stock Align 325's are too light and edgy to make for a nice FBL machine. While I am still not 100% with mine the attached settings, running Maniac main blades work quite well and the model is predictable. Upload these to your 3G using the PC link software. . |

After mod; still getting tail wag in hover and FF
Test flew a 550E with 3G; 8 flts over the weekend. Consistently getting medium tail wag in hover. Just a little in FF. Lasts the whole flt; 5min flts use only about 1500 to 2000 mah. 20C zippys 4Kmah.
Default settings. Lowered gyro sens to 63; raised to 80; no diff. Made the mod today; tried with default and Leon's settings; no diff. I like the heli; just wish I could get rid of the wag. Using JR9303; Spetrum AR7000 rcvr; stock heli. Align FB 520 blades (not fbl); Tail rotor blades balanced and loose in grips. Main rotors balanced; cg correct. Looking for any suggestions. Planning to get KDE tail rotor upgrade if I can find one. Don't make buy a V-bar! Thanks. Pat Trex 450SE with V2 hd. Furion450; Novus125 CP. Align550E FBL G3
