Quick update - I'm convinced you guys are right about the servo horns being too short. There's nothing I can do to increase the collective pitch range past 10°. I got some longer horns on order...
Irrespective of that, I took the bird up for a few flights and it flies well... Took some tweaking of the advanced settings to address coasting after multiple rolls/flips. Still not 100% happy with the tail, it tends to drift more than I like in tic tocs, but that's probably because I need to tweak the governor (on the ESC). I've done the flight trimming with FC gain turned off and the piros are better, but still start tilting after 3-4 rotations. In contrast, the Tarot ZYX I got flying on my other birds could hover piro for a whole pack non stop with only minor and level drifting (disk flat).

Final Update
Well, after changing servo horns and many tweaks and tuning flights, I could not get the TotalG to fly the way I wanted. Maybe it's the hardware, maybe it's the software, or maybe it's the pilot, I was just not feeling it. So I bought an MSH Brain and the TG is up for sale on the classifieds here...
