nitro not populating the lines
I have a os55 pressurized in my N2. I flew this helicopter earlier this year and it flew ok and then I had to shelf it for a few months because the kids are getting older and require more time. Today I wanted to fire it up again. I could not get the fuel to populate the lines. I could see air blowing into the tank of nitro but I could never get the fuel to start to flow. This heli was freshly built this year and has only been hovered for setup. It has less than 3 tanks of fuel through it. I am sure I am missing something. I am still really new at nitro.

So it's a regulated motor? if so pull apart the one-way check valve that would pressurize the tank and make sure it isn't blocked up and installed the right way.
After sitting for quite some time I would change out your fuel tubing, especially the clunk line itself going into the tank. And depending on the clunk that's being used it may need to also be replaced, if it's one of the foam pickups then certianly replace that, and also don't forget to check your fuel filter that's inline with the carb for any sort of debris. Also, make sure your using new fuel, and not something that may have been left over in the tank over the course of the year. That certianly won't help the situation! |

Did you leave the line going into the carb pinched?
The fuel tubing, over time, seems to take a temporary memory. I've seen where after leaving the line pinched for prolonged periods of time, the fuel tubing will still stay pinched closed even after releasing the fuel clamp. This results in the exact symptom you're seeing. Simply squeezing the tubing in the affected area should open up the line again. |

So I went through all the lines and I think I have a leak which is not allowing the tank to pressurize enough to open the carb regulator and start drawing fuel. Thanks for your replies and I will post as I make progress. Any other ideas let me know.

Have you tried priming the engine by cranking it over WITHOUT lighting the glo plug? It takes a little experimenting but I've found the HZ-R engines prime best between half and full throttle. It varies from engine to engine.

+ 1 on checking fuel lines, make sure Carb is opening . I believe pressurized means that the tank is using muffler pressure, not regulated . Correct me if I am wrong op

Still have not found the issue. New lines new check valve and filters. Replaced the glo plug and still not found the culprit. Called OS and it's looking like I need to pull the engine and send it in.
Mr008 the engine is the drs system. So it is a regulated fuel supply instead of muffler pressure. It has to build pressure in the tank and lines to get the regulator in the carb to open and call for fuel. I think it helps maintain more consistent power as the fuel level depletes during a flight. |

Just asking for clarification thats all. I run a 105 hzr so i am well aware of how a regulated engine works , just was not sure what type of engine you were running .if lines are good , and compresion is good then the only thing left to check is the regulator, and make sure youre throtle endpoints have not some how changed. Any ways good luck.

Have you tried priming it as I described above? I've seen guys crank these things for an hour and get no fuel flow at idle. Open the carb up to the magic spot and instant fuel flow.

My attempts to prime have failed as well. Had a new set of eyes over last night and we went through the whole setup again radio lines check valves in line filters everything we could think of. Still no go. I keep thinking I'm missing something but can't seem to locate it.

Is the checkvalve in backwards? The mark on it can be confusing as to which way it goes.

Whilst cranking engine squeeze the exhaust deflector for a couple seconds this should unstick your regulator and fuel will hopefully prime thtough

it does on ys engiges once fuel has been used I don't know about os pumped just thought id put it out there
1st start of the day mine wont fire unless I giv it a quick squeeze (and that's to get it pumping not to pressurize tank) cheers terry |
