Default 1st crash :-(

Well after about 20 flights I finally crashed my Carbon Protos. Not too much damage only the flybar, main shaft, tail boom, the feathering spindle and my SAB blades. What other blades are good for the Protos or should I just stick with the SAB's?

Peter.

I run Radix 430mm Cosflaws w/o the weights installed in the paddles. Feel about the same as SAB's with the weights installed.

$35 a pop is nice.

discoferret,

sorry to hear about your 1st crash. good to hear it wasn't too bad. i'm going to use curtis youngblood's radix cosflaw (cosmetically flawed) blades. i just ordered 5 of them last week. here's the link:

http://www.curtisyoungblood.com/products_view.php?id=28

you might think of giving them a go some time. i'm told they work well on the protos. they are only $35 ! what a deal. currently though, the link says they are out of stock. bummer. i know i waited a couple months for mine and when i saw them in stock, i snatched them up right quick.

otherwise, SABs are supposed to be the hot ticket on the protos.

Edit: oops, sorry Peter, i just picked up on this notation for the Radix Cosflaws: (Only available for U.S. shipping)

My super cheap blades from HK are due any day now (I got them to shakedown an electrical problem - you just can't bench test static problems as you are already earthed to some degree) - will report how adequate/good/bad they are :-)

Careful with those HK blades! I read some horror stories about broken off blades whooshing by the head / face of the pilot. So excercise caution!

I ran the HK blades on my 450, and they SUCK. I also tried a pair of Helidirect pro3D's on the 450 and 500, and they SUCK. I guess I might be a blade snob now. If you're doing any 3D, blades make a huge difference.

Whether you fly 3D or not, blades make a huge difference! They are the "wings" after all, and just like with an airplane's wings the subtle differences in airfoil, chord-wise CG and span-wise CG all has a rather dramatic effect on the way the machine feels and behaves in flight.

Lesson: Don't skimp on blades!

Well, I guess I probably fly at the n00b(-) 3D level, and bad blades really annoy me.

Don't care how they fly tbh. I'm not "testing" to see if I've got rid of my electrical problem with 45 Euro blades each time.
