Default New batts question..

When I got my PL6, I was using it to charge 17 packs I've been using for two years, and it was easy to get used to the set up.
I just received 10 new packs yesterday, and decided to cycle them... charge/discharge/charge I believe...
All, but the last one, went fine...
This last one, on the charger now, started the same cycle as the others, but I noticed it had one cell that was about .1 lower then the rest. All were 3.85, one was 3.75.
I was working on a heli and checked back and noticed it went to "Safety Charge".
I've been looking for some info, and if I got this right, the charger read the imbalance and went into a safe charge set up of about .5A. I'm letting it do its thing right now, but kinda wondering if the batt is shot?
Any info would be appreciated.

If the charger detects a difference of 150mv and there as at least 1 cell above 3.8v the charger will go into safety charge mode at 500ma. Since the pack is new, I would let the charger bring the cells into balance then restart the charge cycle.

Some packs require a few cycles before all cells operate normally. While I tend think this is an indication of poor quality control during assembly, many modelers just cycle them a few times and are satisfied with the performance from that point forward. However, if the cell does not fall onto line after a few cycles, then it may be a bad cell. The IR values of that pack may give additional clues as to the state of that one cell.

Thanks for the quick response...
It quickly came up to level with the other cells, and I restarted the cycle.
It charged to 4.2v with all cells the same voltage so it seems to be doing well.. I'm letting it go through the cycle, just started discharging a minute ago..

I appreciate the quick answer, and ya gotta love this thing. There is no beating a quality charger. Best money I've spent in this hobby so far, bar none.
Thanks again!!!
