Default Hitec Eclipse 7 a good radio?

Had a fellow flyer offer to sell me a hitec eclipse 7 for a good price. I'm just going to use this radio for my falcon, and going 2.4 for the trex 600 when I start piecing it together.

I should just get a 2.4 radio, but I don't want to spend the money on a receiver for the falcon, and Its going to be well over a year before I get a trex 600 in the air.

Just wondering about compatibility... programming... options...

any input is appreciated,
Jonathan

they're alright.. I had one for a year or so, the software is old and a pain to program, and I don't care much for the spectra module (it became loose after awhile).

if it's for helis, i would avoid the hitec electron 6 receiver at all costs.

I was going to just use the receiver that came with my falcon... as long as it's the same frequency it's compatible right?

The crystals I have are 72.810... The Tx I hope to purchase does come with the spectra module... He fixed his so it doesn't become loose anymore. He had the same problem.

All in all, I assume its going to be better than the POS that came with my RTF heli...

I had one. Nice radio for the price. Not a lot of choices for PCM Rxes.

Thankfully, I have no idea what PCM means

My heli uses mechanical mixing (non CCPM) so i assume setting it up will be easy.

When its time for the 600, then I can go for the fancy Tx...

The price isn't as good as I thought it was going to be... I guess.. you tell me.

$150 including the spectra module. I see them going on ebay for less... but this guy flies with this radio every weekend at the AMA field, works at a local hobby shop, so I know I'm not getting a POS and it will work.

I would not pay that much for it. You can get a DX6i for less money and be into 2.4 GHz. Or spend a little more and get a DX7 now.

PCM is Pulse Code Modulation and the servo positioning info is sent digitally with a check sum, so the Rx ignores corrupted data. MUCH better for helis.

I think $150 is too much for that radio.
