Default Kontronik koby 55 up in flames .. why ?

Using my koby up to 1,5 years without problems on the Warp 360.

Always used Desire power 1300 35c 6s packs,
And since today new Gens 1400 40c packs.

Flight 2, made a loop, and when i came out of the loop.. no controlls anymore and went into the ground.
White smoke was coming out of the machine.

Koby was totally burnt out ... but why?
Flew it in mode 4 on 80% throttle

You really should no have more than 65 and maybe not that, on you Throttle curve in the transmitter for proper governing.
This is if using recommended 100 / 100 end points.
Of course proper pinion for head speed.
Nothing last for ever!

Checking the motor for a short is a good place to start!What motor is this?

i flew 1 year without problems with the same setup.

Scorpion 2520 - 1360kv motor
koby 55 esc

the only thing i changed where new battery packs.

first i had Desire power 1300 35c
en the day of the accident i had new Gens 1400 45c packs.

But that may not have caused the fire.


Had contact with kontronik, and the Koby is send to them.
So i will hear from them next week i hope.

Not a single response from anyone affiliated with Kon.


I love the products, but someone needs to be in here answering questions or getting this man a new esc. We pay WAY too much for these products to be hung out to dry when something goes bad.

Magneto is a team pilot and he responded. Kontronik direct tech support usually don't respond to this forum they respond to emails


So let me ask this OP did you email Kontronik directly with your issue?

Kontronik was very helpfull,

yesterday the message that they have received my burned koby, and today the message they send me a koby return.

good service, so my trust in kontronik is back

yeah i'm glad they have took care for it.

quick mail response and within 2 weeks everything solved.

Good job Kontronik.

Maby i've had some bad luck with the old one.. we will see when the new one is back in the Warp :-)
