Default Ode to HeliFreaks:

My heli fleet numbers nine,
For better or worse they're all mine.

It includes four micros,
Many say they're for psychos.

Among them is one Align,
Some say they're top of the line.

The Protos is likely my fave,
That should make many rave.

There are six Blades to be submitted,
Many would say I should be committed.

Like it or not here's my take,
What difference does it make?

They "all" go up and fly around,
Till they find their way to the ground.

And their future would be bleak,
Had I not become a HeliFreak.

THE END

Sorry guys - working sick ( God awful head cold - they're going around at work ) and needed a stress reliever on a ( late ) 10 minute lunch break and - this was it - and you got blessed with it.....

PS - Nowhere in my application for HeliFreaks was there any questions concerning sanity or lack of it - right Will - Will - WILL

Nice poem. Don't do it again. You proved your sanity(insanity) by joining HF!

How about some haiku?

I'm bored here at work.
HeliFreak to the rescue.
I feel better now.

Love it!!! Funny you mention poetry as a stress relieving outlet. I did the same a couple years ago in the X5 forum.

Quote:
Ode to the Walk

Today I flew her hard and fast.
My hurricanes were hauling ass.
My tips are stained - they touched the grass -
But now I'm feeling sad.

cause when I fly, I have one goal -
To fly her like she's one I stole.
and now I have to pay the toll.
My thumbs have made me mad.

I flew like I was on the sim
and banged the sticks with every whim.
The X5 was dancing and nim-ble;
putting on a show

There was no time to double check,
or think about how to correct,
before my blade would intersect
the solid ground below.

One dumb thumb is all it took
To put her in. Come take a look.
While walking out, my head just shook.
I knew I was to blame.

I flew knive edge. Corrected late.
I swear next time I will not wait.
I'll trust my insticts, 'cause I hate
the dreaded walk of shame.

You're getting closer Chris - when I was a kid in school it was - "you're a poet and didn't know it, big feet show it, Longfellows"

I am envious You're poetry is much more sophisticated in both composition and content I would fall back on the nasty head cold as an excuse but truth be known poetry has never been my forte
( although it did sweep a cute little blonde off her feet in 8th grade )

Yes you would be surprised at some of the things I find myself doing as stress relievers. Probably bottom of the barrel is trimming my cats claws. I can only surmise that works as she seems to always get more stressed out than I am and in the process of calming her down I get calmer as well.

Anyway - enjoyed reading your work and I bet it helped get you in the mood to repair that busted bird..

Us old guys have a knack for doing that - whether we mean to or not ( my wife of 36 years would attest to that )..

As a matter of fact - probably one of the many things that has kept us together all these years is that I can laugh at my blunders right along with her

Thanks! It sure did, and repairing it got me in the mood to write another and post here. The 2013 season I wrote a poem for every crash and every rebuild. A handful of other X5 pilots also got in on the fun. I just went back and re-read the thread (linked) and it put a big grin on my face. Thanks again for sharing yours! I'd love to see more.
