Wandering tail?
One of my CPX's has developed a strange tail behavior. It wanders around, even without other inputs. This is a totally different than the tail kicking on pitch pumps.
At first I thought the tail was dying, but I replaced it with a 7mm tail and it has the exact same symptom. Is it possible there is something wrong with the 3-in-1 board? The only other thing I can think of is vibration. Has anyone seen this caused by vibration? Also, I installed the HH brushless kit, but I *think* it had the same behavior before. |

My HH BL Ncpx has similar, definitely not lack of authority, just that it wanders both ways sometimes. Silly as it sounds I have not done anything about it as I figure the necessary rudder corrections are just helping my inverted skills.

That's a good idea, but it was all over and didn't seem very good for learning.

Every time I put a new tail motor on mine they are that way for the first 10 flights or so. It's usually about 10 to 15 degrees in total.
Also dirt in the swash causing notchy bearings will wig it out too. I usually use the deoxit on the bearings to break up the gunk and finish off with denatured alcohol until there smooth. I do a full clean and rebuild every 200 flights on mine. The key to getting and keeping these thing flying sweet is cleanliness and plain old flying the snot out of them.

Weak batteries or poor connections seems to upset the tail on mine and cause it to wander. It tends to wag very slightly anyway but the above problems make it wag randomly more one way then the other. Every correction is a waste of time since the next wag randomly ends somewhere new!
