I know I heard somebody else on HF who couldn't use the EPS with the RJX conversion (I think it was because the RJX motor mount has 2 motor mount screw holes and the EPS requires 3). Perhaps you could drill and tap the third hole--but it may be easier to purchase the KDE motor mount & EPS ($29 + $39 respectively) and not use the RJX motor mount that comes with the conversion.

That's my plan anyway...

Thanks.. I will try and find the motor mount plate.. Too bad the person didn't tell that it wouldn't work with my conversion kit when I was talking to him on the phone about my order.. The EPS is already on it's way to me..

It looks like that ESC is only rated for 10S so if you want to run 12S batteries like all of the other 700E conversions--that kit will not work.

I used the KDE plate and the EPS on my LE build no issues. After reading your issue and looking back at the pictures of the RJX motor mount it should be a VERY simple fix for you.

You can just drill the third hold in the RJX motor mount, there's no tapping or real precision that's needed here as they're just "through-holes" for the bolts to go down into your motor.

On my KDE motor mount, I had to enlarge the holes from 3mm to 4mm, I just screwed it down to a small block of wood then used the drill press to mill out the holes. Should be just as easy to make a new hole. If you don't have, or have access to a drill press. A regular drill should do the trick just as well, maybe use a small needle file to smooth it out.

Hope this helps...
-Mark

.... Yeah.. I'm only drilling a hole big enough to fit the one screw. Don't want to weaken the mount.. I'm also just going to drill a slightly elongated hole and not a slit from either end.. Thanks..

What would happen if you used the EPS but didn't drill that 3rd hole or use the 3rd bolt?

Wouldn't it still work because the direction of pressure on the pinion is away from the main gear so the EPS (by virtue of it resting on the motor plate) would still prevent flex?

I'm not totally sure but I think the extra hole adds that much more rigidity and security to the pinion support to ensure that it doesn't twist, slide or tilt. I guess it's tougher to tilt with 3 points than it will be with just 2. I guess with only 2, you can still or rock a bit pushing that much power...

Yeah, I guess drilling the 3rd hole is "cheap insurance".

Made the hole and elongated it a little to give me a little bit of pinion travel because i'm not sure how much I will need. If I need to elongate the hole more, I can do it pretty easily to get the correct mesh.
