Lazy tail on brushless nano cpx conversion?
Anyone else having a problem with the tail being lazy after converting an ncpx to brushless? I just put the blade conversion made for this heli on and the tail is horrible. I tried to put an mcpx tail on it and a new nano tail and nothing changed. Any ideas? I am at a loss on this one.

turn up your headspeed to 100% and let me know if your still having issues with the stock tail..

Yup the headspeed is cranked up all the way. I've been scratching my head since its supposed to be a simple drop in. The tail holds perfect with the stock motor.

Re: Lazy tail on brushless nano cpx conversion?
Could be a cracked tail boom. A crack that wouldn't affect a brushed heli may cause problems with brushless. This was my issue.

I have already tried different tail motors and booms and no different results.

If the tail isn't holding, it means it isn't producing the needed thrust, at the time the thrust is needed. I have only recently bought the nano, and the nano BL conversion. Haven't even put the BL conversion on yet. However I did do the mCPX BL conversions and I always thought it useful to run a V curve since the mCPX has a "Revo" type mix on throttle. So if the throttle is changing, it adds some tail thrust. A flat curve doesn't do this. I think the nano has the same firmware and so expect a V curve to help by increasing the tail current and getting the motor to spin faster as the main torque rises, However when my tail gets lazy, I suspect the motor is over the hill, or rather power isn't getting to the tail. In he latter case, look at the connectors. |

Thanks for the info. Biggest problem apparently is the power mentioned in previous post. System does not work well with the 35c batts but works much better with the 45c batts. Also the long mcpx tail and the pitch settings backed down a bit and now it flies pretty good. I will try the v curve. Thanks

Is the tail fet blown or need the solder re flowing? Classic fault on it's bigger brother the mcpX after a BL motor is added...

I had this issue, the tail would wonder back and forth after I tossed in the factory brushless upgrade. Nothing like tail wag, it actually affected orientation. I used some CA glue on the tail motor shaft and wouldn't you know, it fixed the problem.
Try putting on a new tail blade if you have one or glue your current one to the tail motor shaft to see if that helps. Just be careful when doing so, wouldn't want to bind the tail motor!

sounds like vibes to me, i had a similar issue with a pinion i installed and it was drilled off center lol.
also i had to back off the mesh a little, when it was too tight it gave me similar issues |

Vibes on the AS3X make the tail floppy, for sure.

Also I think the V curve is just for running in governor arm mode when the head speed is fixed. The pnp kit is tx mode so the head speed will vary if the throttle curves are linear or V so less affective for helping the tail out.

If I remember correctly from reading other threads on this kit, the battery plugs in to the esc, then there is another lead with a plug on the esc that the original battery lead from the 3 in 1 plugs in to. If this is indeed the case, I would be suspicious of a bad connection somewhere between the esc and the 3 in 1.

A governor works better for headspeed, and on the helis I have, that have ESCs that support it I use it. |

Any solution on this?? got the same issue. running kbdd blades on the main and tail. no issues with stock motor and swapped for the brushless kit and the tail is "lazy"

All the lazy tail issues I had with my HH brushless conversion went away when I bought new batteries (Eflite 25C). Old/tired batteries just can't keep up.

Just have a cup of Chai with milk, 3 cubes of sugar and a good shot of Blutwurz 60% vol then listen to *Tool - Right In Two* and all your problems will be gone

Tail Lacking Power
I'm having the same issue!!! i have the factory brushless kit from HH and i did make a custom tail boom out of solid carbon stock, It's 1in longer. You would think the boom being longer would give it more leverage to give the tail more authority but it can't keep up!!
Now the tail will turn the heli in a clockwise motion... When i hit the throttle hard it turns counterclockwise , so this is not the tail "lacking power" how can i fix this!!?? |
