Copilot II is a thermopile (IR) based platform where Helicommand,FlymentorSK720 are gyro based.
The readers digest version.. If you plan on flying indoors a CPII is not the system you want....It has to be used outdoors. that is the only short coming.. It is far more tolerant to vibration than a gyro based platform, and is faster in response due to the fact it 'sees" the thermal horizon Also it is the only system by design to have a dual action , one with flight stabilization, the second Emergency Recovery which is 2 times faster than normal. As to gyro based stabilization, this depends on if you plan to go flybarless in which case the Helicommand RIGID is the unit you would require or the SK720

Thank's nightflyr,I'm fairly new to helis and i see a lot talk about it so i'm looking around.I have a trex 500 and a blade 400,i'm still on tail in hovering, forward, back and left and right and thinking this might speed up the learning process, but they seem to cost a lot although hobby king has flymentor fairly cheep. No worries that' why we're all here
Weed to decide what you want, where you fly and how you fly, that will make the choices easier

If you decide on Flymentor be aware that yes Flymentor will speed up your learning but It does not like vibration so the heli needs to be in good mechanicle condition. It only good for normal flying no 3D.
You will also need a pc with xp ( not vista or windows 7 ) or the hand held controller. Lot's of video's on youtube. Do some reading before you decide what system to buy. |

This is going to get frightening when Xp can not be found any longer, not only for FM but all these manufacturers need to update their software to 2010 standards.

Yep agree but I think thats a while away. I will be buying my wife a new netbook for Christmas and guess what, it will have xp. I hate Vista and after what Mr Gates did to us with Vista I will not trust windows 7 yet.

Gates is no longer the head guy at Microsoft. Window 7 is a solid choice. XP definitely is solid for what it is. Vista has gone the way of Microsoft Bob, good riddance to them both.

I found that just looking at the messages regarding Flymentor and CP II tells an interesting story. Just count the number of messages from people having problems with Flymentor and compare that number to messages of people having problems with CP II. To me at least, it seems there are a lot more people having problems with Flymentor. CP II costs more but it seems to deliver more as well.

The issues with FM are involved with the installation manual, and how people understand how it is written..
Reason why poor Ivor has stubs where his fingers use to be..he converts the text into real english

Not discounting CPII which is overall less problematic to implement and certainly does what it says on the tin, when Flymentor is installed right it is a pleasure to fly with too. Most guys by the time they get FM and the heli sorted sure end up with a great deal of knowledge about helicopter science

Isn't it odd..the thing that is suppose to make your flying easier to learn is such a PITA to install and setup.
And most who know how to install and set it up, actually don't really need it

BTW, sitting here at my PC, I have been out three times this evening already to retrieve the dustbin (garbage) from the middle of the road. Winds today varying from 40 to 70 Mph in SE UK.
