Default My 550 Mods

I was tired to change gears so I decided to change the original multi gear system with something more simple. These are slant gears from T-Rex 500. Also the tail boom is from T-Rex 600 and the tail blades and fin are from T-Rex 550. The batteries now located underneath for better balance. I had 100+ flights till now with no signs of wear on the gears.

COOL! Looks like a lot of work, but nice mods. Why the trex boom? The gaui seems nice to me,

Looks great, but where did you get a motor shaft that long to mount the pinion to?
Also, what mod to the main shaft to add the gear, and where is the OWB, in the main gear?

I put some photos of the main gear in my photobucket. I took the gear hub from trex 500 and modifyied the aluminum hub of hurricane's to match. The OWB is at the original place of trex's hub. For the motor shaft I made an extention from iron 5mm female from one side to match with motor's shaft and 5mm male to the other side to put the pinion gear on.

I wasn't able to find a gaui boom here. The trex boom is thicker and heavier a litle but it fits.

Thanks for adding the photos of the gears. Very interesting. Nice idea.
