Default Looks wrong

Hi again,
I just put my new servo (Futaba BLS257) on my trex450 V.2
Servo looks vulnerable to crash.
You guys have any suggestions about how to put it?

You have it installed correctly.. I'm guessing this would be the reason why when they designed the pro, they put the servo under the boom in the frame...

My HC500 had the servo in the frame and that was designed along time ago...Charley was ahead of his time even back then.. but yes.. its correct....all my 500's are the same way... honestly.. the BLS 257 is WAY overkill for a 450.. but I'll bet you have the fastest damn tail on a 450 around.....
Only thing is.. its usually on the other side, so the tail rod is in line with the tail horn on the tail case....
On my 500's, its tilted under the boom, to the left side of the heli, the rod is on the ball right under the boom.. in line with the tail arm on the tail slider...

Default servo location

I have the servo on the tail boom as well. (trex 450 sport v2 ) I have seen as well as installed mine on the other side of the boom and more horizontal. That way if I do have a boom strike it will hit the boom instead of the servo first.

You can leave it on that side.. but you want the servo arm, to have the ball at the top, right under the boom...this way it will line up with the tail slider arm...which side the servo is tilted towards, really doesnt matter....you switch the tail servo direction to get the correction direction the way it needs to be, either way.

Doesnt really matter when its a boom mounted servo....in a crash.. its in the line of fire anyway...no matter what way its tilted...believe me.. crashes can have some crazy results....more important.. the tail rod needs to be in a straight line to the tail slider as possible. You dont want flexing, or angular deflection in the tail....it needs to be as resposive as possible.. after all.. your putting a hugely expensive, fast servo on a 450...make sure the geometry is at its best.

Many years ago I heard in a Finless video (anyone rememeber him?) to put the servo on the other side. If you loose link in the head with the clockwise rotation, the losse blade will hit the boom before it hits the servo. Of course any crash is a lottery. But the boom protecting the servo from a wild blade, if only a little, made sense to me.

Not sure if these will do... like I said.. which side really doesnt matter, but you want the tailrod to be attached to the servo so the ball is at the top, near the boom, this way it lines up with the tail slider in as straight a line as you can get....
Pic1 shows the side I have it tilted towards..
Pic 2 shows the ball and link under the boom..
Pic 3 shows it in line with the slider.. ( not a good pic ..sorry....)

Wow that is sooo logic, why did I not think of that!
Thanx for the tip

I heard the same thing about the gyro when you leave it on top in the back.
In a bad crash, sometime it happens that the flybar can hit the gyro. That is why I hide it inside the frame.
