thanks for your help.

How are you getting your 1400 head speed? Have you fitted a smaller pinon so you can run closer to a governed flat 100% or just going for say 70% flat TC?

I don't want to put my ECS under to much stress buy running a low TC

Right now I have the Castle ESC set to govern at 1400. I don't recall from the log file what the power out was, but it was definitely in the range where it's not happy as evidenced by the heat buildup in the controller. I have a low kv motor which helps some, but ultimately I feel the correct course of action will be to run a Jive in its place. I'm limited in gearing selection due to the unusual bolt hole pattern of the monster Scorpion I'm running. (Can't run a KDE adjustable) Until I purchase a Jive, I may entertain running a higher head speed at the loss of some flight time, and keep brushed up on my autorotation skills just in case.

I'm not sure what main gear you're running, but I've found that there are few pinions out there for my 600 to 800 stretch AP ship running the scorpion 5020-450. I'm running the 188T helical cut main. I ended up using the 13T pinion for the T-Rex 600 and boring out the 5mm hole to 6mm. Now I'm at 1400rpm at 90% on my Jive 80HV. I also just adjusted the stock motor mount by opening up the slots for the motor screws to fit the bigger motor spacing and filling in the inner space left with aluminum pieces JB welded in place. Works perfect for me. Hope this helps you.

I have a Kontronik 80 Jive HV and Kontronik 120 Jive for sale if you don't want to use a Castle anymore...

I am using a Kontronik Jazz 200 HV now.
