Default CPII Vertical Sensor Question

I noticed recently that some gyro/servo leads that I thought I had routed securely next to the vertical sensor had moved at some point and were completly blocking the window on the bottom of the vert. sensor. The funny thing is, it seemed to have no effect at all on the CP system, in fact, to confirm, I flew another battery just to see if I could notice any difference in how the sytem responded and it flew exactly the same whether the window was blocked or not. I would input hard cyclic and roll the heli 90 degrees, center the sticks and it would snap back to level just as fast as it always has. It recovered from nose high/low attitudes just as efficiently. I never went completely inverted so maybe it would have come into play then but for average everyday non 3D flying it seems to make no difference at all. Is this normal? When does this bottom part of the sensor actually come into play?

The vertical sensor has two main functions. One on initialisation to determine there is sufficient temp differential between top and bottom sensor to deem the system operable and the second to tell CPII whether the heli is flying right side up or up side down.

In your case you would only feel the effect of the blocked view if you were flying upside down.

Makes perfect sense. Thanks for the explanation!
