Default 2015 Mid America Fun Fly May 29-31

Hello Friends,

I am pleased to announce the 2015 Mid America R/C Heli Fun Fly scheduled for May 29th thru May 31st, 2015. Next to the Jamboree this is the premier helicopter event in the Midwest!!!

This years' event will again take place at Grosse Ile Municipal Airport on the island of Grosse Ile, Mi.

The runway is 8850 feet long offering us an incredible amount of space for our flight line. The event will be held in conjunction with the Grosse Ile Island Fest also occurring at the airport during the Fun Fly.

The airport offers several new amenities:
Night Flying
Camping
Motor Home Parking *** No Fees***
Full Scale Helicopter Rides
Full Scale Plane Rides
Exotic race car driving on a closed course;
Carnival Games and rides for the family;

After a very successful event last year with over 190 pilots at the event and well over $15,000.00 in raffle prizes, I am determined to make this year’s event even better. Look forward to more pilots, more prizes, more spectators, more food vendors, more evening activities and more good times!!!

We are planning to add an Autrorotation contest and a mini FPV quad race as well.

We had a few issues with the PA system last year so I went out and purchased a brand new 5000 Watt PA system just for Mid America!!!!!!!!!

Demo Pilots planning to attend!!!!

I might be in the area the end of May. This looks like it could be a good event. Hope to be there.

Does anyone know when the raffle for the event is held?
I will be in and out visiting with family in the area and want to plan my time at the event to overlap with the raffle.

To my knowledge going off of the past years the raffle is on Saturday in the afternoon.

Maybe Big D will chime in and verify....

11:47 pm and I am mostly situated. Notice I didn't say "The car is packed and ready to leave!" lol

Had to take a break from all the inventory and consolidation of tools, parts, etc.

Having a nice glass of Jameson and a Rocky Patel Edge Maduro.

Then I will start to pack the car, get some sleep, and try to be on the road by 8:00am

I guess I arrived a little too early. Where is the camping area exactly? I've never been here before and I asked a couple of people about the event and nobody knows what I am taking about.

HELP! lol

From memory there is not really any camping area except where your camper ends up! Seen people set up just on the other side of the runway as the flying area. Don't think there is any water or electric though.

Just flew in from LA tonight and drove to Lansing for some sleep, than be out there around noon or a tad later. Excited but exhausted.
