V90 - Lack of CW tail power?
Hi all,
We have two Velo 90s in our club and both suffer from a lack of right (clockwise) rudder power. Imagine the heli is in fast sideways flight from left to right (nose-in) and you apply right aileron and pitch for a large nose-in sideways loop - the tail is guaranteed to let go on both helis almost immediately. Alternatively, set the heli up in a dynamic CW piro hurricane and, again, the tail will slow down or even stop once the heli is tracking fast. We've checked the set-up to ensure that the tail pitch slider travel is the maximum mechanically available. One model has a quark/BLS251 combo and the other is BeastX/BLS251 but both behave identically. Anyone else experienced this? Any fixes? Comparing the model with other 90s to hand (Stratus, Rex 700, Avant) it looks like there just isn't as much tail pitch range as these models. Could be fixed with a slightly longer tail output shaft but is there any easier way? |

I ran out of weather before my heli really got rang out. I am waiting for spring now so I don't have to be a guinea pig.

Try larger tail blades... What size are you running now?

KitFox - same effect was observed with the kit blades and Radix 105s so blade length is not the issue
I posted this query in another forum and Henry Caldwell was kind enough to respond that longer tail output shafts are on the way which should fix the issue |

We have been Flying both our machines since before IRCHA, I simply set the tail push rod so when the Spartan was out of HH the tail holds mechanically with a few quick collective pitch pumps, and turn HH back on and the tail is locked in, haven't had any problems.

I wondered that too. However, most pilots piro with left hand rudder in chaos and piro hurricane and if the development pilots have the same preference, a lack of right rudder power might not have shown up. The model has no lack of left rudder power btw
