Default Lynx tail

Is the Lynx tail a Blingtastic "upgrade" for the guys that think everything should be aluminum, or is this actually a quality precision piece of aluminum?

Trying to trace out a tail issue that I'm pretty sure is tail hardware at this point, but hate to spend $100 on it if it's going to be just as sloppy as the original, which is not all that sloppy to begin.

The usual advice is to not over tighten your tail fin screws... once I ignored this my 300x flew great.... also the stock hub and grips are of dubious quality.

I was looking into the rex 450 tail mod but meh... I just ordered the Lynx, I hope I don't regret it. If I can get this tail locked in on this bird I could easily see it becoming a permanent part of my fleet. If not she's headed to the trash bin.

I had the stock case, shaft, pitch slider, and pitch lever on an Align hub and grips with Blade CF blades and it worked pretty perfect for a year or so. I do like bling though, so I got the Lynx tail kit and re-used the Blade CF blades. It is also pretty perfect.

You'll like it I think. I don't believe you *need* it, but it does work well.

You will not be disappointed. The quality is outstanding, and it runs smooth as glass.

I agree they are excellent parts. I just hope you get the result you're looking for and this is not simply wishful thinking.

But speaking of slop, here is a comparison I did a while back with some hard numbers measuring the differences in precision between the tail pitch lever/slider with the stock and Lynx versions.

I'll quote myself to make it easy...

  • Stock Slider Gap Width: 2.20 mm
  • Lynx Slider Gap Width: 2.24 mm
Note: The stock plastic slider is actually kind of inconsistent and varies slightly around the circumference. The numbers above are an average of several measurements I took from each.

So doing the math...
  • Stock Lever with Stock Slider = 2.01 - 2.20 = 0.19 mm slop
  • Stock Lever with Lynx Slider = 2.01 - 2.24 = 0.23mm slop
  • Lynx Lever with Lynx Slider - 2.21 - 2.24 = 0.03 mm slop
  • Lynx Lever with Stock slider = 2.21 - 2.20 = 0.01 mm OVER

Well in the past I've been able to eliminate wag with good servos and making sure my tail is clean. Two servos and the same behavior. It's got to be the tail... Unless vbar is just not playing nice with this small of a bird, which I find rather hard to believe... But then again how many people put on a fbl controller worth twice what the bird is worth haha.

Believe me, I hope you're right and I'm wrong. There is less slop with the Lynx setup, so maybe that's it. I want to get rid of the AR7200BX and put either a Mini VBar or Ikon on mine as well, but I'm not ready to pull the trigger just yet. Let us know how it works out.

Well if this doesn't work you should loan me your ar7200bx So I can check and see if it's my bird or the vbar.

I'm using a mini-v bar and a stock tail... I have not yet received the lynx tail... But I am hopeful with some of the reports I've seen.
