Has anyone had to try to adjust the belt drive mesh with the main gear? I'm using Align tail belt drive and Align main and auto gears, but the mesh in the belt drive seems to be alot. I'm trying to first, see if this has come up before, and two, if there was a way to make the mesh better. I was thinking I'd have to disassemble the tail ( again!!) and take my Dremel and very slightly, " slot" the holes for the screws and also the tab slots in the frame so that I can slide the tail block slightly forward to get a better mesh?? So much for Align compatible huh? Anyone had this happen? Thanks for any replies..

Mike

My real Trex 450 Sport was the exact same way.The teeth on the tail drive gear look's like it just touches the auto gear but I never had one strip. If you dremel the hole's in the frame to slide the boom block back so gear mesh is better, make sure you do it perfect. If it's on a angle at all,the belt can hit the inside of the tail boom.I honestly wouldn't worry about it.

Yeah, I meant to post back.. took me like 15 minutes to Dremel the holes into a very slight "slot" less then a MM. That gave me a perfect mesh. But, I did realize a whole other issue....mine has an Align belt drive in the HK tail block. The HK belt drive had a brass shim or washer on the bottom of the belt drive shaft. I put this back in when I put in the Align tail drive. Nobody's ever gotten back to me if they used the shim or not when switching over to an Align belt drive in place of the HK drive. The Main gear is just a hair, I mean literally, just a hair from the top hub of the belt drive gear. Did anyone have this issue, and if so, did you do anything and what? I'm thinking of moving that brass washer or shim the belt drive has to the top of the shaft instead of the bottom. maybe this will give me a bit more clearence? Or, are the Trex 500's very close as well? Sorry for all the questions... This 500 was maidened on Monday, very solid, very smooth, no issues so far threw 3 battery packs. Vids will come soon.... any relpies or help is greatly appreciated...
Mike

Just a pic from todays flights. Today was flight 8. Its solid as a rock, so far. Smooth, solid, responsive, hovers hands-off, and the tail is smooth. Should have taken the video camera but I wanted to get out early and get some time in before the feild was crowded.
