Talking Why Not...???

Whenever someone mentions that DX4e, I cringe and remember my poor 1st V1 mCPX and my skills at the time trying very very hard to keep the Heli from bouncing off the walls, lol. Now that V1 mCPX is a brushless monster.

I'm sure a ton of software and testing went into the RTF version but please do yourself a big favor and get a DX6i...this radio will do Great when climbing the learning curve ladder and BLADE's larger Helis work with it.

I love miniature so I'm getting the BnF Nano when it's released...course I'll have to wait until I get Stateside since USPS isn't lifting that Lithium Battery shipping ban any time soon. It may be possible to pick one up locally but I have my other Helis to keep me occupied.

Oh hell, I'll pick one up locally...

If that was to me, I was only curious about how 4 channels was enough for a collective pitch heli.

The DX6i is on the way with the 130 X

video review I did after flying mine! and just so you all know, I was told by the Horizon team that they have the first shipment coming over already! The production was approved a short while ago!

Thanks

Something that small needs a better backdrop, very hard to see I look forward to videos of this thing in the kitchen.

Parlane, no, it wasn't being directed to you but just a 'General' announcement, I guess.

That DX4e almost made me swear off BLADE Helis because how does anyone short of a Pro or a Natural Heli pilot, actually control a CP Heli with any grace using this Tx.

I'm sure good flying or 3D has been done with the DX4e and CP Helis but IMHO, the DX6i is an Excellent 'Starter' transmitter with longevity.

To those thinking of getting a DX6i for the nano, I've been hearing about how bad the gimbals are compared to the higher end models. This radio used to be good, but I suspect the production has been moved to Malaysia (it made the DX7 bad). The older (but better) batches were made in China.

Also, the DX4e is actually a 5 (or 5 1/2) channel transmitter. The 5th channel is on a toggle switch on the upper left face. The 1/2 channel would be the trainer button on the upper left shoulder, which we use as throttle hold for helis.
Yep....DX4E Can manipulate 6 channels, the 'trainer' or momentary button ALSO fires CH6, and that is used to work throttle hold.... *CH5 changes throttle and pitch curves stored in the Rx for 'idle up'

As is clear, this Rx is in a special software mode to allow a 4+1+1 Tx to fly a CCPM heli with idle up and hold....

A 'computer' radio... 6i and above offers more flexibility to the users....

To be fair, you gotta start somewhere and I think the mCP X was a pretty decent starting point. (The V2 at least - that's the only one I ever had.) And to Blade/HH's credit, they DO take community improvements into account, like the grommets on the head linkages and the OEM long tail boom. There are a lot of things people would like to see stock, like brushless motors and metal head parts, but then the mCP X wouldn't be a $180 helicopter and the Nano wouldn't be $150. Heck, the Nano is in the price range of Parkzone's ultra micro foamy planes. Even if there's room for improvement, I can't imagine it not being worth the price.

I wouldn't say that it mixes the two. On the contrary, the DX4e does no mixing at all.

On a proper helicopter radio, you have one stick axis (up and down on the left stick of a mode 2 or 4 radio) that controls both throttle and pitch. Your radio takes that one position and generates two values from it based on how you have your throttle and pitch curves setup. What these do instead is send the raw stick positions (along with whether the heli is in hover/idle mode and hold/mix mode) and the helicopter does the rest.
