What motor, battery size, and ESC would make for a good 6s MD6 setup? Would a HobbyWing 100A V3 handle it?

HOBBY-WING 100a v3 and a xnova 4025 1150kv should fit great in the MD6

Are you using a RX battery pack or a BEC? The HobbyWing 100A V3 has a pretty good BEC. I have one that I had intended for a 500/550 .

Then you want to run 12s. Regarding the norwegian price that includes OmG servos, blades and 25% vat that will be detucted. It is easy to stretch. Just change boom, supports and pinion.

My MD6 (6s 5000mah), RTF weight is at 7lb 6oz

The MD5 would use appx 4000mah 6s and the MD6 would be 4000mah 6s or 3300mah (appx)

if you have that 550kv motor and the 2700mah batteries, I would suggest md6 on 12s

What's it like on 6s ? I only have 2 sets of flight packs and the convenience of 6s with a hw100 v3 would be nice.

I use 7S and 900kv motor and that is great. But I mostly fly big air and not the most complicated movements.

No issues on 6s, just don't use blades larger then the Rail 606's.

Sorry guys just trying to make the best choice as I have a little boy and don't get much flying time now. What sort of flight times are you getting on 6s ? I'm no smack pilot and don't use high head speeds 2200 & 2350 on 550 blade and zeal 570
Dose anyone how the md5 compares to the gaui x5 ?

4-5 minutes or more dependent on motor efficiency, flying style and ESC. Flite time is much the same no matter what heli you use as long as the size and electronics are the same.

I get around that on my md6.

Rasmus is correct, most helis will vet around the same flight times, given gear ratio and electronics are within the safe efficiency.

My MD6 on 6s will get around 4 min depending on how I'm flying.
