Default DIY - RGB Nightblades

here are some Pics of my DIY - RGB Nightblades

1. Made a small conroller- PCB to controll the RGB-LEDs
2. Programmed the controller
3. mounted controller & small 3s 50mah lipo on top of the rotorhead
4. installed sensor and magnet
5. put some RGB-stripes on the blades
6. put shrinktube around the blades and glue it tightly

works very well

Wow that's neat! And quite an elaborate setup, nice job! I just ordered some RGB fast and slow flashing LEDs but I have know idea how they are going to work? I don't know if they are going to need that control board or if they just flash on thier own when power is applied? I won't see them until next month because I ordered them from China. I'll read your blog .

Hey Steppo here you go. I got my Chinese order today. The small single RGB LEDs (fast flash and slow flash) do apparently flash on thier own. The slow ones go red then turn green then blue then all 3 colors and repeat. The fast ones do the same faster but also flash on and off quickly at the end of the cycle. I tried one on 7.4 volts but it burned out after about 10 seconds, 3.7 volts seems to work great for one. I have to figure out how many I'm going to use and the right voltage, might need some resistors? I think these 3mm would be too big for blades though? Maybe larger blades with them recessed into the blade? I like the idea of being able to control them from the TX like yours though. Did you use SMD (surface mount) RGB LEDs with your setup and controller? What size where they?
Then I got this RGB strip and controller to play around with also somewhere else, works on 12V. Got a great deal on these. Again I don't think the strips would work on blades either unless maybe I cut them apart?
If anyone wants to know where I got the stuff you can PM me.

Hi there. My answer comes a little late
I used the standard 5050 SMD RGB stripes on the blades and it worked well
