Question Should I buy the X50E . . . or the Align equal

I know I'm asking "the believers" here in this forum..but this is my question - and I hope some HF members can give me their least biased opinions.

I'm both "used to" and "spoiled by" the high quality of the parts and engineering of my 450 class BEAM E4 Heli. I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a larger heli buy. BUT . . .

I'd rather not buy anything..than step down in quality from what I got used to with the BEAM. I was thinking of going to an Align 500 DFC or Align 550 DFC as their quality took a big step up recently . . . I'm not sure I like the whole DFC concept.

This is what is important to me:

- Quality of parts and engineering ...so that the parts fit together without creative re-jiggering
- Absolute stable and vibration free flyer. I'm not much into 3D...so "quick flips" is not a selling point for me
- A reasonable degree of 'crash worthiness' / durable parts that don't break or wear out quickly even if I don't crash
- Readily available spare parts
- Low maintenance / easy to get SPOT ON alignments...say of blade tracking etc.
- Don't want a major tear-down to replace parts -
- QUIET in flight.... Not sure why...but I LOVE peace and quiet...
- Cheaper parts than the Align equivalents.
- Will probably experiment with GPS/flight stabilization (e.g. APS, or Naza-H) in the future - so will need space in the airframe..

The floor is now open... What are your thoughts... Go with the X50E or look elsewhere?

If you recommend to buy..please suggest a few vendors...and your reasons for that vendor

Thanks to all,

OP

X50e is a pretty loud machine. Straight cut gears.

Have a look at the Synergy E5. Mine is configured as a 600 and its superb.

I own both Align and a X50e (and fusion 50) build quality has been the best on the x50e. All the bits fitted and are of a high standard. Its been a joy to build.

cheers

Here is how the X50e sounds in case you missed this vid of Nick Maxwell. It has a Scorpion 700 size motor on it and rips severely.

Thumbs up Your replies -- a tremendous help!

Thank you to all responders!

You've really been a great help with your suggestions and advice. I feel I'm literally "spoilt for choice"...which is not a bad position to be in.

Going to get some "eyes on" time next.

All the best!
