Wow, you weren't kidding when you said the main gear was big!

OK, let's see features..

Alu servo holders?
Alu tail case
Alu tail boom holder
SAB main and tail blades
Alu main gear? (Which is HUGE)
Has no servos on it.. (Duh!)
ESC Seems HUGE
Head seems really low profile..
Blade grips are really big compared to the head block..
Tail servo is boom mount.

While I love the Protos canopy I wish manufacturers would take a chance and come up with new canopy shapes.

Looks like 1 piece skids, that's cool.
Any chance on a plastic frame ala Protos 500?

I hope the belt tension is set with spring loaded idler pulleys. This would cut down on unnecessarily high belt tension that robs power. Tail mount servo on a 700? I'm not a fan of plastic grips on a 700 no matter what they are made of. I'll have to pass if it goes into production with plastic main blade grips.

Two things I noticed: boom seems to be small in diameter. I'm surprised the belt, due to it's design doesn't slap inside it; belt seems narrow, especially if compared to the smaller protos or the belts used by other helis between pinion and main gear.

I think the items that look like they are aluminum are probably machined delrin.

I bet you a dollar per part that they are aluminum.

They may be in the future, but when Corrado started this from the beginning, a lot of parts on the original Protos were white machined Delrin, before the molded parts were created.

Same thing year before last when he was showing off the mini at IRCHA. A few of the parts were will Delrin.

The main gear looks way too delicate to be made from Delrin and still be functional. Comparing the suspected Delrin pieces to say... the head block, they appear to be the same color / material. I am betting it's all aluminum for testing. I would suspect the production heli may incorporate more plastic in it.

Hi,

i had the luck to give a look ( thanks to Corrado) in the afternoon to the Protos 700.

First af all, this is a prototype. Materials you cna see on pics are not definitive and this prototype was just a display prototype, simply to show some people that it's not a fake / unexisting thing in this big box (i mean the Nuremberg Protos 700 display model)...

The main pulley is very, very large. But in fact, this is not a big problem. I even am not sure if it is not smaller than the logo Xxtreme gear.

The Tail boom is marge diameter also, it's not a thin one. Belt uses standard tensionners front, and back, like the mini protos and the protos 500

Tail boom support is very clever and different. You can change your tail boom without removing the complete tail boom support unit like a Trex 700. Nice thing

Main hub is likea giant 450 or 500 hub, nothing new here but simply working solution

Main grips are HUGE. It's more beefy than a logo 600 blade grip and it looks prettty strong, but the ball link now is on a more "standard" direction ( like a logo grip, not like a protos 500 or 450).

Frame is ultra simple, carbon on the top and palstic on the bottom ( battery location) so if you get a bad crash you will more likely kill the plastic under layer and save the carbon upper frames, this is COOL !

Everything else is simple and effective solutions that simply bases on the 500 model, bigger...

Nice bird for sure

BEst regards,

Fabien

Nice summary. Thanks!

Now I have roughly 10-12 months to save for one! (not only kit, but servos, batteries, spares, ...)

I snapped a belt on a Protos and it was my first forced auto and I successfully saved it.

The belt left the airframe, and that meant the main rotor was left without any hindrance at all, neither from the motor nor from driving the tail. Much easier than a healthy planned auto with the OWB going and the tail driven. It wouldn't have been good for tricky autos but is optimal for forced autos.

Default Awwww man!

Just when I have decided NOT to buy another heli this year.............

A maxi Prôtos would be a very good friend to my Logo 600SE and Prôtos 500.
Wonder if they could share main and tail blades?

Any excuse to get one
