Default 540 Liftoff

I am seriously considering a SK540, but I have a question.
Does the 540 have the same tip over characteristics as a BeastX on liftoff or is this a characterstic of all FBL systems?
It scares the heck out of me to think of my T550 tipping over on spoolup. I just got the unit and it didn't come with a FBL controller.

I have a Tarot zyx controller but I don't have the tip over issue during take off. Others have this issue. One member in RCgroups.com had tip over issue with his BeastX. It turned out to be excessive vibration at take off speed. Once he fixed the vibration, no more tip over issue.

On the 3gx pre 2.0 firmware versions there was a relatively big chance of tipover if you don`t lift up quick enough, but from ver 2.0 and 2.1 it`s lift off like a fb heli.
Don`t know bout other okes, but I don`t have any ill tendency on take off with the 540 - and this is on a 600 LE vibrator. Have just ordered my second 540 unit - a great gyro

I have six flights last weekend on a new 540 installation in a Trex 450 SEV2. No issues on the ground during spool up, tip over, what's that? Great unit all around.

Do any of you use the LCD field terminal ? If yes, does your terminal power up and say "DEVICE: SK540" or "DEVICE:SK720"? My terminal power up and display "DEVICE:SK720". How do I change it back to SK540 ?

The SK540 has no tip over problem for me. Set it up on my Trex-600n lifted off with the factory settings and was amazed on how good it felt. I like it better than my Blue line Vbar. Hands off the first flight. Awesome simply Awesome

Thank all of you for your replies!
That's exactly what I was looking for. I've never used a FBL before. Only one guy at the club I go to have a FBL(I bought one of his helis!), so I wanted first hand experience. Looking for the best unit for a beginner and the 540 looks like the one to get! I use FR-Sky receivers, not Spektrum, so I'm looking for a unit that will work well with them. It seems like a lot of people don't use receivers with their FBL controllers, but I am not sure of that. I try to read a lot before I buy something.

Fr-sky has 2 Rx that support Futaba FASST; one of them is 7 channels and the other is 8 channels. For 8 channels, there are S-BUS and non S-BUS. I have both Futaba R6203SB and Fr-sky 8 channels with S-BUS support. I will definitely get the 8 channels with S-BUS support. It simplify the wiring a lot and SK540 supports S-BUS without an adapter (not like SK720). Other brands FBL controller supports S-BUS right out of the box.

Unless you are using Fr-sky own technology - ACCST then that is a different story....

But those are simply too much rx for this aplication and too big , the R6203SB is 3 channel and small. Keeps things nice and tidy.

Thanks for all the replies!
I am using the FR-Sky JR module in a JR8103 radio. Does that need the S-Bus support on an SK-540? I also have the Spektrum module, but don't use it at present. I am not heavely invested in the FR-Sky, but I do use the 8 channel JR/Sky receivers.

S-BUS is Futaba's proprietary technology, like Spektrum satellite receivers. I am not familiar with JR/Spektrum Tx/Rx.

Thank you for your reply.
I assume that the SK-540 will work with the FR-Sky receivers without any mods or extra stuff needed, but I just wanted to find someone who was using this setup with a JR module before I invest in a 540.

SK540 supports traditional receiver along with Futaba S-Bus and Spektrum satellite receivers. So, I am pretty sure that JR module should work.
