Default engine bearings

it is time for me to change engine bearings in my O.S. 50 hyper for the first time. i have the bearings, and was wondering what the best way to change them would be. i have already been told about completely disassembling my engine and putting it in the oven, but is there any other perhaps better way to do this? thanks in advance

No, there's no better way that I know of. The oven method is safe for your engine case and new bearings, (they really just "slip" into place) No hammering, prying, pressing, punching, gouging, beating, poking, jabbing, smacking, or any other violence is needed.

Episode one of the Smacktalk videos has a really good segment on doing just this . It might be worth a couple bucks to you to see how it's done. It was to me.

Hope that helps,

Al

Here's no-cost instructions how it's made.

Follow to lower part of page for video title: "Bearing replacement and overhaul OS SX-50 v3 using heat - 92MB wmv"

I used exactly this method, including oven temps mentioned and same time cleaned all small pin holes (crank and con-rod).
Now engine runs better than ever.
