Here's my Protos with the blue Canomod canopy. As someone on Helifreak suggested, I moved the mounting posts forward and I did not need to do any trimming on the canopy.

I moved the mounting posts to the front and I could mount my Canomod without trimming as well. I also put some spacers under the front skids to allow the canopy to slip under the frame. I don't like how close to the edge the grommets are so I think I'm going to do a little trmming so I can move the grommets farther up.

Sweet looking Protos you've got there Glimmung23. The Canomod canopy is beautiful.

Thanks! I wish I had pics of it flying because the canopy looks really great in the air.

Beautiful! Had a look on this canopy before as well! I'm not sooo much with the blue - would like the design with red instead of blue even more.
But your Heli looks great!

Here are a couple pics of my Protos'.

The original Protos (SAB Blades) is near 100% stock. I did add the Aluminum Pitch Plate, Aluminum FlyBar Carrier from Infinity Hobbies to it. I also added a Support Bridge to the boom supports. It is fitted with Stock Motor, Align 60 amp ESC, JR 3517 MG on swash, JR 770 Gyro with the JR 3500G tail servo.

The other Protos (RotoTech Blades) is a CF Frame and boom from Infinity Hobbies. It also has the Metal Grips (main and tail), mixer arms, pitch plate, washout hub, hard dampeners all from Infinity Hobbies. I also picked up all metal pullies from Duzi Models. It is fitted with Stock Motor, Align 60 amp ESC, JR 3517 MG on swash, Spartan 760 Gyro with the Futaba S9257 tail servo.

They both fly awesome but I really like the Carbon one better. Both are flown with FilghtPower EVO 6S 2500. Both have the static mod from the motor mount to the boom and static guard is applied to the belt.

Here are some shots of my quick-n-rough paint job done today on a (slightly damaged) white plastic canopy. I would love to get some MSH and Protos stickers, are they available ?

My design goal was "improved visibility" and my solution included fluorescent yellow and orange on the canopy and tail fins. As an experiment I used some cheap rattle-can fluoro marker paint. It is not sticking too well to the tail fins (migh thave to find some of the infamous auto bumper undercoat perhaps) but seems to have bonded to the (sanded) plastic canopy OK. I hope to fly it tomorrow to see whether the design goal has been met.

Thank you

It works well, not nearly as stylish but much better against grey skies than the original canopy. The cheap spray paint is flaking off the tail fins which doesn't suprise me. So far after half a dozen flights (canopy on-off each time) it seems to be holding OK on the canopy which is more important.

Getting paint to stick to plastic is always hit or miss. The bumper stuff is called Bulldog Adhesion Promotor. If you try it make sure you give it a few days to dry or you will end up with a big mess.

Default New Paint!

Here is my Protos, Scott at Ace Helis painted the Canopy and I painted the skids. The canopy shows up great in the air! I really like it now, before I could not see the stock canopy well at all unless it was inverted!
Thanks Scott for the great paintjob!

Very nice! What kind of paint did you use on the skids?

Hey, wait just a darn minute... I recognize the rest of that Protos. You had it at Austin, it's the crazy insane one!

Default Skids

yea that's the one! Fun Fun! I just used Krylon out of a spray can and the Automotive clear on top of the white. It was pretty easy and really helps with orientation.

Is that your amazon.com bill for all your heli expenses in that first pic?
