Shyguy, I also sprayed with plastidip...does work great. However, I've broken 3 pins on my frame (btw, canopy wont stay like this), and am now waiting on a BL setup to transfer everything to a new frame.

I love the shrink tube idea. I'm pretty sure I know what you're talking about, but if you have a chance, could you please put up a pic or two? Would love to do this to the new frame before everything goes in.

Will do! Seems to work very well! Did it on my new frame too, with the Mild B/L kit. Just cut in excact 1/2 with X-acto knife, then shrink tube together.

This thing is close to bullet proof now!!!

Along that line of thinking. I wrote a tip for the Solo Pro pilots that were breaking landing skids.

The concept was to create a failure point that can easily be repaired.

So, if you cut the mounts in the middle. And put shrink wrap over it. The shrink wrap will be the point of failure. And can easily be repaired time after time. In contrast, if left to break on it's own. The canopy post usually break right at the frame, leaving no way to wrap heatshrink, thread, etc...to reinforce the repaired glued joint.

Even with that tip, the issue is that, most people don't want to be proactive and cut their new frame or landing skids.

FYI, I hate the HobbyKing shrink tube because they are too stiff. But in this situation, it may be the perfect tool.

Suffice to say, there are differences between heat shrink brands.

Yeah - I think I need some thicker wall HS tubing to make this work. Mine is way too thin-walled for this!

Seems golden!

Shrink tube is lighter than silicone tube, and the stiffness seems ideal.

Just fitted one of those v911 .99 canopies from myrcmart.com in china. Got a picture before I do any damage. Although it is much stronger than stock. It seems to have a coating on the inside. .6g heavier before trimming, but I have gone brushless, so probably can handle the extra weight.
