Default First time Mini Protos builder with a few questions (Now problem with 1way b)

Hi guys! I'm in the process of putting together my MP and I have a few questions. First, where can I get the washer in the main grip PN MSH40087. Does it come with any of the replacement part kits? Its the one just before the outer BB. I had 2 .

Second, the swash links bind on the canopy posts. Should I be using the shorter swash balls for FBL?

Third, Is the MKS DS8910A+ a good tail servo for this bird? I have one laying around I want to use.

Fourth, anyone have a setup for the HC3SX they want to share?

I also have a 450SEv2. So far I like the way the MP is designed over the SE, but the proof is in the sky. Cant wait to take it out. Savox SH0255MG servos, 3S, Castle ice lite 50, Align 3G blades(for now), stretch kit on the way.

More questions. Thick or thin spindle spacer for FBL? Are aftermarket tail blades worth it?

I will answer where I can.

Use the shorter balls yes, the longer ones apparently can cause binding as you found out.

Yes you need to use the thicker spindle spacer for FBL setup.

DS 8910A+ works well with the Mini.
Washers are included with MSH41039 (main blade grips with hardware)
ScottS runs a HC3SX I believe, he might chime in.

I have owned several Align and one MA 450. It took a parts issue for me to "jump ship" from MA. Now with the Mini I look back and think about ALL the reading I did on the Mini. It really should have been in my fleet much sooner. I LOVE the way this thing sounds (or doesn't sound) compared to the others. I replaced the plastic bearing blocks and went with the lower head. Something I think should be a "kit" option. Not a big deal though.

Yup. I am new here and only have 5 flights on it now, but I am hooked already and believe the hype. This thing is plain awesome. Such a smooth operating helicopter and like you said. Sounds (or doesn't) amazing.

OP, you are gonna love this helicopter. Just take your time through the build.

Haha I'm also new here, and also only 5 flights on it, I haven't flown anything similar in size so I can't compare but it's definitely real quiet. Plenty quiet for some insane blade noise
I'm really loving it
I have had one single issue until now : my OWB gets stuck when I fly it. It's not very hard to get it unstuck by hand, but I'm not sure if an autorotation would generate power to get it working. I don't have enough confidence in my skills to try it.
It's not really a major problem but still a bit annoying.
I have another 16t pinion in the mail so i'll probably give that one a try, if I manage to get the current one out

The thick spacer for FBL and the Lynx tail blades will give you great bite! The stock blades little soft.
Enjoy 1 of the most awesome 450s out there!

Its all together and I tried spinning it up. One way bearing is a no way bearing. I tried spinning the motor both ways. The bearing slips in both directions. Did i install it wrong or is it broke? looking it over it looks like I installed it right.

You mean the motor is always spinning the main blades or never.

If it's always spinning them, you can try turning the motor anti-clockwise while holding the main blades (or the pinion), it could just be a bit stuck.

Shoot us some pics and we'll tell you if it's installed the wrong way, I don't really see how that's possible though.

The main blades never spin. I tried spinning the motor in both directions. Pictures will probably have to wait until morning.

Have you checked if your pinion was cracked ?
The pinion I got with the kit was cracked. I sent a pic of it to my LHS and got another back for free so it was fine.

I don't see a crack. Even under a magnifying glass.

Well then unless the pics prove otherwise, you need another pinion.

When you turn the pinion by hand on the motor shaft, does it engage (ie lock up) in one direction?

Well It looks like it's been properly mounted, your pinion is most certainly broken.
Send a mail to your LHS and he should send you a new one for free.

New pinion is on its way.

I have an HC3SX mounted under the main shaft. I'm guessing I should spring for the metal servo mounts right? I searched but I cant find an instance where the main shaft was shoved all the way down in a crash. Anyone have a link to this happening?

Can't remember this happening on a Mini - maybe it has, but on the Protos 500 I'm pretty sure it's happened.
