Thank you

Paul

P.S the training kit is made of BBQ skewers, with heat shrink at the tips of it. All connected to the training kit hub that you can buy on ebay, anyone of them will do. Here is mine. Its the brushless Metal edition with my home made cardboard training gear. I've gone through two sets of blades and two batteries and I seem to have a bent feathering shaft. Now I'm back in the air with new blades and batteries this week.

Here is mine:
Walkera Main motor and Walkera ESC's for Main and Tail. Tail motor is HP03T 2.9g in a JasonJetski tailcase and CF fin. CF look blades (Foam inside) and MIA Air Ram CF canopy and MIA Tuff skids. Plus some CF pattern decals applied on visable servos.
Running CJ 20C 400mah battery.
Some easy flying in the video. Not as impressive as the flips. First little flight is without canopy and second part is with it on.

After I made this vid, I upgraded the main motor to the red can Turbo ace and WOW. What a difference. Had tons of fun with it but managed to loose the tail motor during some idle up flying. This is my 2nd tail motor that I had come out of the JJ tailcase in idle up. I tried using a metal set screw through the plastic this time and it worked good for a while but the vibrations made the set screw come loose because thread locker doesn't stick well on Delrin plastic. Dusty, how do you have your tail motor installed? Did you use and bonding agent or screws or just press in?

Walkera 4G3 DBL Tight Spaces Indoor Flights (3 min 35 sec)

Ryan

PS - You can see from my throttle downs that I have a little vibration from a slightly bent feathering shaft. New parts arrive tomorrow. Please forgive my lame easy flying, but I am a relative newbie flying the 4G3. And yes, I will be cleaning up that wiring mess and removing those unneeded connectors!

I just pressed it in, came back out once when I crashed and when I pushed it back in it seemed to in further than before, so I probably hadn't fitted it properly first time - been fine ever since

No not yet

I got it from Jason not long after he started manufacturing them - at that time I don't think there was a choice of fins. there was a choice of holders between raised and straight, couldn't decide so got one of each - I reckon the straight one I didn't use will always be spare as they don't look like they'll break easily

So someone makes the tails? Does he make one for the Brushed Tail? (The CF rod broke first flight) Something simple and light that provides some protection for the tail rotor?

RCgroups user JasonJetski makes these cases and other plastic CNC pieces. His site is here:
http://www.micro-heli-concepts.com/

He has made fins and cases to fit the stock brushed tail in the past but the motors do not last. Once you start flying your 4G3 on a regular basis, you will get tired of replacing the tail motors if the poor performance doesn't bother you first. A BL tail is the one of the first things most users do on the 4G3 platform.

Here is a link to a thread dedicated to the tail cases:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1025044

Now with HP08+16T. Plenty of torque till the end of battery discharge.

mprasm,

I have my HP08 on the way. Wondering what kind of flight times you are getting with that motor?

Thanks

I get slightly more flight time as previous motor (4.5g + 18T) but much more consistent torque throughout flight. Overused 10C 400mah 4.5min & 20C 400mah 7min of hovering in 3D mode. The motor is so efficient you may get a low-voltage cutoff while the heli is still in the air (your headspeed will be enough for lift, but the ESC will shut you down since the battery volt level will be below threshold).

Imo, anything over 16T pinion is crazy dangerous for this thing and will amplify rotorhead imperfection creating problems with the gyro hold. I love it but it was freaking me out (trust me, you wouldn't want to be in the same room with it), so I tone it down with 16T pinion. I think my 18T headpeed was so high, the flybar guide ball creates a dent in the sliding hole at hover level. I can feel it slightly cog when I manually move the flybar up n down through the hole.

Well, I have not done much to mine yet, I have made landing gear (music wire covered with heat shrink tubing) Basically, I got sick of the original gear getting caught in the carpet when taking off. I have a brass rod in place of the CF tail till I can get a proper tail in. But it flies with it. Just wish I had secured the tail wires so the flybar did not have a chance to yank em out of the tail motor.

ya make em! A guy made templates, you print, cut, fold, glue. They are amazingly sturdy when printed on cardsock. They are specificly made to fit if you flip the battery tray forward for better ballance

Battery cage mod
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1010358
I just cut the battery mount behind the cage, spun it around, and screwed it back in and it seems strong enough.

Canopies
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...php?p=11688622
It looks like there is a template to make your own, I want to make a Decepticon one

PS, Mprism made em, I first saw them on RC groups.com, did not make the connection that Mprism here was the Mprism there. Mprism, Great job I like them.

Glad you boys like them. John, I got all the tips in the thread link above (in SQRT(-2)'s post). Crease the fold lines before you fold them by hand. Use craft-grade paper glue that dries fast. For even better look, print them on overhead projector transparent plastic sheet.

Have fun!

Hi mprasm,

What sort of glue would you use to recommend for the overhead projector transparent plastic sheet?

Thank you
