Question: Do I need the programming card for the gyro? Nobody has mentioned that.

Just wanted to say thanks..........
I also have an HK500gt and was thinking what to put in it.( just setting in the box ) I just found this post so I have alot to look over. I need to find these build vids or you guys are talking about. I have another tread started on this already....Its under the align 500 page named HK500gt. I didn't know this one was here. I do like the cost vs. need that this tread has. Its what I was shooting for when I picked the HK500gt. I only pick this heli due to everyone said " NOT TO GET A 250 size " The 250is what I really wanted just by looking at them. I was told there very hard to fly. I have been flying a 500 size in my sim with some changes made in the edit to make it fly more like real life. ( I was told how to change the set up in the edit to make this happen) At first LOL it was well..................... I couldn't fly verywell. But I have this BASICS going well at this point. This was going to my winter project as well. This is my first CP helicopter. I have been into rc for some time and have a lot of stuff to work with. All my servos are to big for this size heli same with all my batterys all 4c 8000MH. All I have that well work is my DX6i that I'm using on my other heli's. I have not checked my charger it's a Hi-Tech 4 in 1 unit ... I'll check it next time I'm charging batterys for my mugen MBX6 eco to see if it will do 6cell batterys Again.......just wanted to say thanks for all the stuff in this post. |

We are waaaay off topic in here but I participate here because it seems there are so many die hard align fans in the T-rex forums who look down on clone builders and won't even help with advice on a budget build. Their philosophy: "A 500 build that comes in under $1200 is dangerous and will instantly go out of control and kill everyone nearby"

If a person has the money for a Trex then hey, go for it. You're paying mostly for the prestige of the name. You can replace a few critical components on a clone with Align parts and still come out spending a lot less then if you'd spent major bucks on an Align. There are thousands of people out there having a great time with their clones and that's what a hobby is for, fun.

You can program it without it but it will save you listening for the beeps. D/L the manual here and you might get an iea of what you have to go through when NOT using a P/C.
At the end of the day it's only $5

Okay, well I did order one.
Dan, what did you use for lube on your 500? I read Luke's sticky on lubrication but the stuff he recommends is not that easy to get. They're onto us because they won't send a sample to a residential address. I guess a synthetic lithium grease would be okay.? Where the heck is Hobby King's USA warehouse???Alaska???Geez, not here yet! Just kidding....I think it's in Washington state. Shouldn't have picked "snail mail" for shipping! The parts should be here about the same time....paid for EMS on those. Also bought me a Thunder ac6 charger and just 1 2650mAh 6cell 30c blue lipo for now. I've spent too much money as it is!

yep their warehouse is in CAi think...even with USA shipping it takes a week to get to me... Thunder AC6 and a blue lipo are what i have for my setup too..so you got a good start... just so you know my bird is flying again...finished it up tonight..put some new blades on..and went out in the dark (again!) and a quick spin up and hover and she is back to flying...all is well..think i avoided major damage...so i'm lucky... hit me up if you got any questions my friend! Dan

Grease for your thrust bearing is a must. My LHS had little pots of "thrust bearing grease" branded by E-flite. Was only $5 and its lasted me ages. I also use it on main shaft where the swash travels and tail shaft where the pitch slider moves too.

I'm familiar with break free, I have guns also....an AK-47 and a Glock 23.
Wouldn't that just fling off with the high speeds these heli parts spin at? Better then nothing though. Glad your bird is back up! I lost my CX2 last night....got up too high and the wind took it away, completely my fault. Got it back today though, can you believe it! All in one piece, no damage other then the battery was all puffed up. It fell in someone's yard and they saw the nav lights blinking and picked it up. They told a neighbor who happens to know me and he told me about it! There's a lot of thick woods between here and where it landed.....that house is the only one out there so I got real lucky! Anyway, I think I'll just look around for a plastic friendly synthetic grease, something like Steemo mentioned.
