Default I let the smoke out of BL9180

I just fired up a used Compass 6HV with a new silverline V-bar. I replaced the Blueline (sold to a friend). I got the heli from a good friend. I saw it fly last year, he is moving his family to Germany I crashed my 6HV and wanted 2 so I always have one up and flying (my fav Heli).

So here is my question. I had the USB cable in the V-bar and bound the TX. One of the motor leads was unpluged and the head and tail blades were off. I was checking the signals in the V-bar setup and the motor started to move. So I unplugged the Heli and unpluged 2 of the motor wires. When I plugged the battery back the right hand cyclic let the smoke out near the mounting flange.

I checked the wiring and everything looked OK the Hercules Super BEC was plugged in correctly and when I checked it I had 8.25 volts. I plugged the servo into a battery monitor servo checker at 6 volts and the servo moves.

Any Ideas? I think I need a new servo. What can I do to check it out?

Bummed in Wisconsin.

PS: not only did I fry a nice servo, it SNOWED here today.

I would not use a servo that let out smoke. Why risk an expensive heli over a gamble that the servo is okay. Better to replace one servo than the whole bird.
