Align Trex 800E: can I convert it to gasser
Hi!
I'm planning to convert my 800E to gasser. Has anyone here done that? I was wondering about getting a 700 gasser kit, then upgrading it with my 800 parts. Is it too crazy? Would it work? Any comments appreciated. Thanks! |

Its not a good idea from E to G but if you already own it. You can mod it by using 700N V2 (not DFC) frame and mount the motor on. I modded my 800N from 700N V2 by sharing 800E parts. The most importance is the canopy, you have to redrill it or you can get the 700N DFC canopy with any modification.
Here is my 800N by using 700N V2 frame. Also, A side view of my modification to compare the size of canopy between 800E and 700N DFC canopy. For me, I like the 700N DFC canopy better than 800E and no need of modification to fit on.

Hi, Bat6111! Thanks for your reply.
Well, yes, I have a 800E DFC. It seems like the swashplate is kind of different between the 700 and the 800. Did I see it right? Would you mind talking a bit more about why you think converting the 800E to gasser is not a good idea? The plan is to raise autonomy, as batteries last 8mins max and we do aerial photography, so we need a lot more than that. Any other suggestions are very welcome! |

Nice one, Azalin!
Just to make sure: do you know if I'll be able to use this kit with my 800E (not 700)? What about this other kit: http://www.helibug.com/HBP46.htm#1 Thanks! Quote:

Just realized that these kits are for Trex 700. You use 800 boom and blades to make it a complete 800 size gasser. You can ask the owner tough. He is a very polite and helpful guy.
