Default Tempest 3D gear ratio?

Tempest 3D, YS 91, what ratio do you use?

I have a fury E with a YS91. I got the 8.18 gear ratio and started out trying the 710 blades. All I can say crap! then I tried the 700's got better but still crap. The best so far is 690's with this gear ratio.

If I had to do it over I'd probably go with the 8.45 gear ratio. Good luck with your choice

Hey Spitfire I have tried most of the ratio's with a ys 91 and so far for hard 3D the 8.45 has worked best for me. The 8.18 will work but seems to bog alot easier then with the 8.45. I know a few guys running the 8.36 and it seems to work very well.

It all depends on what type of flying you will be doing and what head speeds you like to run.

I've never tried the 8.45 but I can agree. Anyone want to trade gear ratio with me?

Since I didn't have a choice, the funkey 692's so far are the best blades to use with the 8.18 ratio. At least with my flying.

I find the lack of support for 8.18 supprising: heliproz really pushes it for the YS (and the OS) they must order most kits at this ratio or something

Kinda figured the 8.45 would win (thats what i have been running) and it seemed unboggable

I am running mine on 8:18 and I don't have any problems. But I am also not pushing it real hard. Still it works for me, and gets good fuel economy. I like it.

I tried 7.75, 8.18 and now have 8.45 - for hard 3d it's the only way to go..... wished I never even tried the other ratios - ys 91, ksj muff, 710sab, tempest fai.
