Default DS 610 Failure!

Turfed in my 700 yesterday due to a servo failure. I have the 700 3G all stock and was only about a minute into the flight. I did an aileron roll and it would not stop rolling. It went into a freshly plowed field so the damage was limited to main and tail blades, landing gear, boom and TT, canopy, and of course the servo. Luckilly it hit on the right side so the muffler is untouched. Once I had it on the bench, the aileron servo ,once powered up, just went full over and stayed there. I'll post a couple of pics soon.

sucks man.. ive had 610s for years and never had 1 fail..

they really are good servos.. and reports of failures really are few and far between.

rebuild it! sorry for the damage.. that always sucks.

she's very dirty, you'll be cleaning for awhile. Sorry for your loss, build it back up again and go flying ASAP. Rare occurrence, but it happens.

Got most of the cleanup done. I went through the engine and made sure any dirt was flushed out of the inside. I also removed the old clutch liner and will replace it. A hot start made it smell funny. Now I just have to wait on parts. I also changed out all the 610s with Hitec's

i had a 610 go full over a while back on my 700 with the same result. that was an anamoly beacause since that time i have flown crashed 610s that work fine. that servo had been in a crash. i still fly them in 4 different helis and on an airplane. given the number that are sold the failure rate is extremely low and they are a good servo. sorry abouy your crash.....it's a terrible feeling to go from pilot to spectator.

How do I keep that from happening? Where your servo's binding by any chance?

No parts were binding at all. In fact I check all my linkages and screws after every outing. I give the swash and servo links a little twist back and forth to make sure they are riding smoothly on the balls with no stiffies. The only indication I had was that when I went into my first roll, it drifted bad to the right. I thought maybe my timing was off so I did another one! BIG MISTAKE. That is when it locked over. The preflight checks were all good on the swash.

I never had a DS610 fail but i had a brand new DS510 fail on my Trex500. It failed before the maiden flight when i was testing at the bench.

Had a 610 fail on my 50size last year. Not a funny thing to experience. Pilot errors are ok, but all other crashes hurts a lot more.

The only only heli I have with 610s is my 550 and they have worked flawless. All my other helis have Futaba BLS servos. I actually also use 650s for throttle servos.

Test hover went very well with the new servos. I was worried about the 7955's because they are a little slower than the 610's. But every stuf is working great!! Now I'm just waiting on my new canopy. Should be here this day!

Got a couple of flights on yesterday and every thing seems good. The Hitec 7955's are just fine for the 3G system even though they are a little slower than recomended.
