I never really gave much thought if the canopy would fit with the 570 skids installed. But it doesn't. So I got out my spare full size 500 canopy and it fits like it should, no issues. I then compared the 2 canopies and they are differently shaped around the nose, different enough to not work, and I can see no easy way to make it work, the bottom of the 2 canopies are angled differently in that area. Plus the part that goes over the tail boom is different on mine.

And as far as for me,swapping out the tail boom and canopy for the original 500 kind of defeats the purpose of getting the sport(in my mind) I should just get another original 500.

so its back to the original skids.

Thanks for the pics, looks like those of us wanting to use the new sport cano will need to swap booms to make it work - which then involves extra parts that are specific to the Sport. Wondering if it'll entail more than just boom and parts, perhaps frame and new plastic bottom tray. Regardless, thanks for the pics again.

Perhaps I misread the previous post, saying the new sport canopy fits differently on the boom - I suppose he never actually said it wouldn't work. Looking at the pics again, I don't see any issue with the old boom + new canopy.

well I got my sport canopy and it looks like it goes right on, BUT , have to trim the stock landing gear right at the frames where the front canopy slips on so the holes line up with the posts. i'm going striper fishing now so i'll get back in a few..its definitely do-able

somethings wrong.....it was too easy just trim a little like I said where the bottom canopy catch is and then mark the holes where the grommets line up..sneak up on them when you dremmel them cause once there gone, well you know. mine I had to open up just the lower portion of the hole. make sure it fits flush with boom and you'll see how much to take off then I finished with a tapered reamer...you can fit a small block chevy under the canopy now..new flipper style skid in the rear wont go on without mod, its too thick. I don't want them anyway..hope this helps ya guys..sorry I don't know how to post pics yet

Hey that's good news! So you had to trim front of skids AND enlarge canopy holes? I was ALMOST considering swapping to the flipper gear and using my aftermarket carbon skids on my 570, I figured they should have fit, as the bottom plastic frame is the same on 500 and 500 Sport... strange

Ah well, would be great to see a pic of how it jives with the old 500's red/white tail boom!

Thanks for playing guinea pig!

sorry for sideways pics..first ones. just a little has to be removed from skids and I didn't elongate the holes. once the canopy is fitted on the frame and boom tight , you'll see what needs to be removed, just open them up to fit.. enjoy

It's the original Goblin 500 modified to work with new Sport canopy. Thinking I'll do the same, not sure why, but I'm really tempted to convey mine to the sport - i much prefer the new canopy style, flipper style landing gear are a bit goofy, but kind of growing on me.
