PWM and Timing drop
Have a Triabolo with a KDE 700XF395 and Kosmik 200. Bench ran great and first two flight amazing. Then the last two on start up at about 1.75 seconds to 5 seconds there are multiple spikes in PWM and timing even with the timing set at fixed 15. Then after 5 seconds everything is normal.

My thought would be that it's just the intialising process where when spooling up it senses the timing and pwm settings the motor needs. (Assuming you're using mode 4). This is just a guess though.
If there's a difference from previous logs, perhaps it could be caused by moving the throttle a bit during the very start of spooling up? I always heard to bring the throttle to mid stick for the Jives to acquire the motor settings, and sometimes you get a little momentary rise in speed and then it settles in as the governor locks on. I just got the Kosmik logs from my last flights so I'll have a look at the pwm graph and see if mine does that.

I just checked logs for my 7HV (using auto-timing) and G770 (fixed timing at 10). They don't do this at all. Does your timing or PWM act unusual any other time than spool-up?
G770 Kosmik 160 - fixed 10 timing - startup KDE G2-700XF-495 7HV Kosmik 200 - auto timing - startup KDE G3-700XF-505

See that's what bugged me is before there was no issue. Then the last two flights both looked like that. And you can hear it too. The motor starts to spool then cuts out for those couple seconds then continues to spool up. The rest of the log is perfect. Just those first few seconds on both flights.

Have you tried resetting the Kosmik with a fully charged set of packs. It may help.

I sure can try that. It was a new set up with full packs. First four flights no issue. Number 5 and 6 the issue started.

I just had a look at my logs again and none of them do that kind of jump, they all steadily ramp up from the start. I'm using a Kosmik 160 with a Hacker A50 12L motor.
I just use mode 4 and let it do its thing as this has always worked well with the Jives. The logs show the timing changes and I guess it goes higher when it needs to crank a bit more power out of the motor in response to the gov.

This sure is strange Scott.
So far, this has been your year for strange stuff too! Any chance of a bad motor - ESC connection? You might IR temp gauge these wires and connections after a flight and see if any of them are hotter than the others.

No kidding it has. Been one thing after another. None have cost me a heli yet just weird. It is a new set up so maybe on the motor wires. Will have to see if that is it. Funny it was fine one day and then not the next.

Let us know when you figure out the problem.
I had a weird issue earlier this year. I was trying a Turnigy Helidrive SK3 motor as lots of people were saying good things about them and I got it really cheap 2nd hand. It seemed quite nicely made. I never ran it with a Kontronik ESC but I tried three different ESCs and they all did the same thing and I had never seen this before; It would start up fine and spin up to the governed headspeed, I'd lift off and fly around but as soon as any load was applied the headspeed would soon drop and STAY dropped, regardless of the throttle position. It would end up going lower and lower until the headspeed was so low the heli could barely stay airborne. This would happen even with the ESC governor disabled. It did exactly the same thing with a Castle Ice2 120, Hobbywing opto 120 and YEP 120. And the motor clearly was capable of producing enough power, you'd get a nice good punch at first and then it was as if the ESC was getting confused with the feedback from the motor. I never figured out what caused it and I sold the motor to someone that was rewinding it.

Screen shot
Yep if I could get my windows computer to stay connected to my wifi at home that would be great. Most of the time it won't I spend more time trying to get it to work correctly. So was easier to just snap a picture with my iphone or iPad and post since they work all the time. :-)

So I think I got it figured. Satnam thanks for looking at the logs. So here is what I figured happened. Set it all up with fully charged packs and all was well. Got in a few good flights no issues. Then while working on issues I am having with my new Jlog somehow I accidentally erased all my flight modes. Not thinking anything of it I just reprogrammed them into the radio. Next flight the issue began. Wasn't until an email from Satnam that I even thought about the reprogram happening. So after doing a reprogram of the kosmik again all is well. Somehow some way the loss of the flight modes and the reprogram did not line up with the kosmik so there was an issue on startup. Love and learn I guess. Thanks to all for the help.
Scott
