Starter Bearing Block Orientation

On my old K3D, the manual states that the shallow gap on the starter bearing block faces the front of the heli. Of course, the 3D+ manual is completely silent on the issue...

So, shallow or deep gap towards the front?

I would go with the orientation that results in the proper gear mesh. Unfortunately, I can't say which that is.

I did it both ways and could not tell which way was better. Does anyone else know the correct orientation?

Shallow slot towards the front on mine. Perfect gear mesh.

In case anyone was wondering, I installed the shallow gap toward the front, and the heli did not blow up. Everything appears OK

Last time I took it out and put it back in, the pinion was very tight against the main gear when installed the wrong way. Once changed the direction it was all nice and smooth and good gear mesh. Not sure which direction it was as it kind of looks similar on either side. One more observation is that you will only notice this when the main shaft is installed.
