Default My Raptor 90

My 6th flight with my raptor 90.

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABwTWxDPQQk[/ame]

I used HeliFreak for sale forums to buy this gorgeous bird. The guy I bought it from absolutely took care of this helicopter and it was apparent that once I opened the box, I knew I got a great aircraft.

I have been flying helis since fathers day of this year (I never flown or had anything RC before this) when I seen my dad's gift from my sister and her husband was a cute little heli. He then broke out with his CX2 that I never knew he had. All hell broke loose from there...

I went and bought me a CX3 and flew it and other smaller co-axial helis and fixed pitch MSR. Then I dove into collective pitch with the SR and on up to the Blade 400. Then after watching a buddy fly his Raptor 60 I had to have one and picked this one up through HeliFreak.

My first flight with this was almost a tankfull and I ran it lean and put a hole in the piston. Since then I totally rebuilt the engine myself, installed a new clutch liner, and completely setup the head and tail. The electronics on it are very good.

The video is about the sixth flight after the rebuild. Still running a bit rich. Im getting to the point that my hands are not shaking off the controls.

I now use the SR ( I have two) as my ginny-pig heli and am learning rolls and loops usually ending up in a crash. I fix it and try it again. I do not plan to ever crash the 400 or Raptor. (finds something wooden to knock on)

Here are the specs:

OS .91 SZ-H (freshly rebuilt)
Curtis Youngblood MP II Pipe
Spektrum AR7000 receiver
(3) Airtronics 94758Z cyclic servos
Futaba 9254 rudder servo
Futaba 3151 throttle servo
Futaba GY 502 gyro
Align 2 in 1 voltage regulator
Align 2s 1900 Mah lipo receiver battery
K&B 105mm tail blades (orange)
Arizona Heli fiberglass Canopy

I installed the Co-Pilot II system which works excellant and have it setup on my gear switch to turn on/off through my DX7

I have learned countless things from the people on this site and want to say thanks for the help and advice . Also Thank God for giving me the ability, time and money to play around with these things!

Danny if you could be standing next to me and hear the power of this thing and those huge 710mm carbon blades grab some air as I do a power climb I think you would be hooked! The video doesnt do it justice. But thanks to my buddy Marc (who is also a great pilot) for taking the video with his camera.

i would probably duck for cover cus it would scare me hahhaha. no you are probably right i do think i would be affraid to fly that thing tho,

can you fit that monster in your car, that would be my main concern with something that big and it would piss every one off that live in the houses across the street from the field we fly in...

ill be happy to get my 500 in the mail, it is about as big as i am ready for lol

I dunno about a cat but Ive really been looking into adding a FPV camera system on it and fly it with the goggles. I would like to fly on over a few lots to my neighbors house, hover and when i see him run inside to get his shotgun, haul a$$ outta there

Im flying it in idle up now. I went from 15% nitro fuel to 30% and this thing is a freak now. Im mostly doing big stall turns with it and some forward flight. Now that I have it in idle up as you know you can fly alot better when you have head speed and negative pitch added to the menu. This big heli is very fast. Amazing to hear it as you come from a big stall turn to the right and it passes by you on its way to the left. Took a while for me to get used to it even with the tamer fuel but now Ive got it ramped up.

But to answer you question, my thumbs still almost rattle off the sticks when Im flying. It takes a good minute for me to calm down and get busy flying. I certainly do not fly this like my 400 or sr even tho now with the added horsepower by the fuel and idle up this thing is very aggresive and the day will be coming when I get it inverted in some loops and rolls.

Its still the heli that everybody comes to look at. I am going to get into a 500 as soon as I can afford one.

lol, thats good

i dont like doing stall turns on my 500 yet, for some reason they make me uncomfortalbe, loops and hivering inverted no problem but they stall turns there so easy and smooth but the just make me nervous.. i don't get it... maybe its seeing a big 500 heading streight for the ground in a nose dive lol...

i just dont know if i could fly a big 90 the 500 is big enough to freak you out till you get used to it. heck the 400 was super scary at first lol...
