Default 16S on Xxtreme?

Has anyone tried 16S on the Xxtreme 800? Is there any noticable difference in performance and/or flight time?

If anyone uses 16S - what's a good setup (ESC/motor)?

Yes I have, I sent my ESC to YGE for the upgrade, used the stock motor and pinion as well. The HS stays ROCK SOLID at 1900 and does not drop off at all. I love it and I think it is the way to go for sure with this heli.......Ron

Did you modify the motor?

Wow. I guess your headspeed of 1900 is a bit higher than the typical 800 headspeed, as you didn't change the gearing either.

Sent from my mobile phone - I apologize for any spelling errors

I guess those numbers are from MrMel's calculator?

Is a 17T pinion available for the this bird?

I thought it was due to the spec saying Main gear ratio 9,21 - 10,29 (Pinion 17-19 teeth)

but I only find 8mm shaft in 18T, only 6mm shaft in 17T

Ok, so the ESC's throttle will be fairly low with the stock 18T pinion when I want a headspeed of 1800-ish.

Someone I know claim that the YGE will run with low throttle without problems due to its AFW. He's a bit flakey though -- does anyone have any concerns about running this ESC on a low throttle?

( Sorry, andersn ;-) )

Also, does anyone have any concerns with running the stock motor on 16S?

Note that I'd like to run 16S due in order to decrease current draw and thereby not push the batteries so hard. I don't think I need any more power than the stock 14S setup already offers.

I asked Georges at IRCHA if it was ok, he told me it was absolutely good for 16s so I did it. No worries and the motor does not get any hotter than before

YGE has same level of AFW as Kontronic, so I have read. You should be fine, so long as its enabled in the ESC.

I'd be surprised if ON is not the default AFW setting in the xxtreme YGE 160 HV.

Perhaps someone else knows the answer

Thanks everyone! For the record, the Xxtreme 700 comes with the 17T pinion. This is also 8 mm/mod1, so it should work on the 800. After all, the 800 specs say that a pinion size of 17T-19T can be used.

I haven't found this is a spare part anywhere, though.

Surely it will pop up soon.... I wish all the parts were available when they start selling the dang thing, but this happens often
