Tail hesitates and stops in piro loops
Hi Guys,
Been out flying today on a trex 550 dfc practising piro loops, nose pirouetting to the left. (550 Is all stock). I have an unusual behaviour in that on the downward half of the piroloop the tail seems to whip, and in the last quarter has actually stopped pirouetting all together a couple of times. I have the endpoints set at 94 each way on the cgy, and have reduced the pirouette speed in the cgy to 550deg/sec not sure whether I should leave this at default 720deg/sec and reduce the piro rate using afr/rates, could this cause the problem??. I have also trimmed it in rate mode and changed from function to constant. Also the tail is nice and crisp reversing in one direction and much softer in the other. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks Paul

Make sure your tail gain is turned up as high as possible without oscillations in funnels or fast backward flight.
Also make SURE your tail pitch slider is reaching maximum travel (without binding) on both sides of rudder travel. Don't worry about the numbers - as long as they are somewhere near 100. Of course, movement of the pitch slider needs to be buttery smooth.

Thanks for the advice :-), the gain is right up, tail is silky smooth. I have managed to find a bit more movement on the tail. Just got to get out and try it now :-)
