I pretty much agree, however it would be nice to know how well it would do, and what the next weak link would break.

I mean... I'd rather pay for a new main gear over buying a bunch of small gears and I only need one of those small gears.

I painted my canopy, main blade and skids so I'm a lil nose heavy plus I use 850-900 Maj battery. Hope this metal gear make my cg better.

I keep snapping the ends of my landing gear off, everythign else is almost bullett proof! Any suggestions for stronger gear. The canopy is sweet looking but it kind of sucks too and cracks really easy in the cold. ( Its 40 degrees out)

Believe me on this... you shouldn't fly in 40 degree weather. I'd have to say 60F would be the coldest I'd fly outdoors.

Reason behind that, the plastic will get very brittle in cold conditions. And that would be the reason why the landing gear breaks. The main blades will cause what I'd call, artificial wind chill.

I've flown a double horse heli out in cold weather, and it did not work out well. And I did ignore the warning (on it's instructions), not to fly it in 50F weather. I think I broke just about every important plastic parts on that heli. At first I thought it was cheap plastic, but I realized later that year in the summer, the plastic did with stand crashes allot better.

If you do fly in cold weather... you literally need to fly it as it were a glass slipper.

Darn NH weather!

That is probably the case, the canopy was breaking like a piece of glass!

I noticed something is slipping in the torque tube I'm guessing its up front on the internal grear. I suspect this is common. Whatever came loose probably saved my torque tube.

Exclamation Breaking point

I disagree I live in Scotland and at the moment we've got temps off around 13-15c ! in the last couple of days Iv'e broken my second pair off skids and canopy, seems to always be in the same place to ! the skids seem to break away at the front as they begin to turn upwards and the canopy's I've had both split down from the notches cut for the skids.

I'm only speculating here and have a pretty outlandish conspiracy theory about Walkera and the way they are operating their business in a more cash hungry manner as time goes by but I'm not going to start anything here for the sake off the forum.

However I do Se the same parts break in the same places all the time and can only imagine the money that is made in spare parts.

P.S I wouldn't bother attempting to use any kind off super glue on these parts as the new supposedly elastic plastic that is used is totally impervious to even the most toxic industrial adhesive.. hhhmmmmm ???

I do agree that Walkera parts/newer heli's are pricey. I don't think I'll ever buy any of the newer products since its just ridiculous to spend that kind of cash. I've spent some pretty pennies for the Walkera's I have.

However, I'm more familiar with F rather then C. So 55-57F to me is still too cold. The helicopter is going to cause a wind chill, and the plastic is just going to be brittle. Any hard landing is going to break the landing skids unless you re-enforce it some how.

I remember someone doing a mod with I think it was either 250 or 450 linkage to attach to the landing gear so it doesn't do a belly flop to where if flexes the plastic too far.

I know for a fact that during the summer time, crashes that I did have, I was surprised my walkera's plastic parts didn't break, but the metal/aluminum parts bent.

So to me, it's not really the parts that are to blame, unless your a person that needs something that will not break because of your flying skills. I know my flying skills are bad. So I end up paying for those mistakes.

I tend to use the flight simulator allot more then flying my real RC heli's especially if the weather is just going to enhance my crashing experience.

I love these forums and see lots of useful information as I progress in my heli endevors. I have recently picked up two Walkera's although they are older ones. Like the 4#3b. having some issues though.

What do all you guys think of the new blade heli in this size coming out? I for one am p.o.'d I could not have had to have another tx. Plus Parts would be easier to come by/ probably. But oh we'll. I had no idea that was coming out last December when I bought this one. It's not that I regret buying the walkera, it's just I think I wold have waited.

It's the blade 130 X. There's a forum under E-Flite already. Looks pretty sweet.

Why no videos on this thread, Bob? No posts either since 5/13/12? Did you change your mind about Walkera? Or about doing a series on this heli? Looks like an interesting alternative to the self-destructing Blade 130X, and would like to know more.
