Default SK360 VS other brand

Hey guys,

We have been tossing the idea of going flybarless on one of my MinAir Razors back and forth for a long time. And what I would like is if you guys that have used either the Skookum and/or other brands and give me the pros and cons of each setup.

If you already have a tail Gyro, then you don't need a v-bar. I use a Skookum on a Gasser and it works well. I'm still testing and playing around with stock settings, but it performs well. I've had to do some mechanical mods to get everything right, but I am well on my way. It is also reasonably priced.

The 2 banks on the Skookum allows you to fly two set ups, so I have a 'normal' set up and a 3D setup. I have it attached to my flight mode switch. Not that I fly 3D. I did notice a significant increase in power due to less drag and loops are huge and beautiful.

Art is good to deal with and set up is really easy. Again it can't be over emphasized that the settings provided work very well.

My only experience is with the SK360.
  • It was about as plug and play as it gets
  • the stock 3D settings are great.
  • you have to re do your level swash/servo/cyclic set up again in the SK and remove it from your radio
  • added power is great
  • autos are fantastic
  • hovers hands off but still 3D's like you wouldn't believe
  • as stable and solid as can be but an absolute rocket when wanted/need be
I know I'm not supposed to say this ...but, this little gem is making me a better pilot. It's so solid that if gives me confidence I did not know I had...almost like flying the sim

It is all said above

You can get huge loops and the entry and exit in the same plane. No more cork-screwing.

Very smooth on my scale fuselage now...

You can see the quick set up reference in my site (in signature) to find out how easy to set up the SK 360

I agree it's not hard.. but it isn't easy either. There's a whole lot of settings you have to check and understand and if you get something wrong you'll find out in flight. check out my video to see what happens when you screw up.

But that holds for any flybarless system.

I noticed on my first 8 seconds of flybarless flight that my headspeed was the same at 80% throttle as it was before at 100%. So I expect a noticeable power increase in future flights.

You are in for a treat. Just follow the very good instructions from Skookum and don't rush to get the heli in the air even if you are excited.

Follow the instructions and tripple check before flying the first time. Good luck and don't hesitate to ask for help on this forum.

I purchased my Sk and had the bird in the air in about 3-4 hrs. Flys like a dream. I will not go back to flybars.

I will agree with everyone's comments here, just had my successful maiden and I cant wait until the weather improves so I can get out and really put it through its paces. It setup was simple and you are not locked in to converting your head a particular way. I am planning to put one in my 600N after I get some holiday bills paid off
