Many vibration on the belt tensioner
Hi guys
after a hard flight (of my friend), the belt tensioner began to vibrate a lot with very loud noises. To get rid of these vibrations, I had to move the belt tensioner of one hole to the right (toward the tail). Her original position is the 4° hole from the left. After some flight, I put the belt tensioner to the original hole, I unscrewed the tail boom, and I screwed again and everything is back to normal. But now a few times, the belt tensioner starts flying to vibrate and then stops by itself. My flights are not hard. Anyone have any idea why this happens? Thanks |

Yes, the noise is similar to a ringing tone.
During the installation of the heli, i've tighten the tail boom and the belt as the manual prescribes. This is the best final position : The belt is more hard than soft. After the hard flight of my friend, i removed main and tail blades and i ran the helicopter on the bench. During this test, the belt tensioner vibrates too much. If I pressed it, vibrations stopped and then i've moved it of 1 hole to the right. In this case, the noise stopped but the belt is too much tighten (my impression) Now i put it on the original position but sometimes the noise returns ... |

Mine looks very similiar to the above...my bell crank is mounted to the 3rd position (as per manual suggestion). I dont have any issues yet, however I did install the card board in the inner tail boom...maybe this can cause the "ring tone" ?
out of interest, What tail blade size are you running?

Thanks for the main blades but was more wondering about your tail blade size.

Yea if you didn't glue in the liner that will prevent the ringing noise it is basically a thin cardboard sleeve that you super glue in.

I can not understand this fact of the card board. I have thrown it away because I thought it was just for protection. There is not written anywhere in the manual of the Diabolo or Diabolo BE or in the website to use it !!
And as you would to stick it in there? But it only serves for the sound like ringing tone or even for the vibrations? If is only for the sound, for me is not a problem. My problem are the vibrations |

Your boom looks too far out from what I have. That would mean your belt is too tight. I find my boom too far in because the belt tensioner arm would hit the boom if not for the belt but given it still works that would suggest yours is too tight. Try loosening up a bit. I used to think that the belt tensioner controlled the tension but it only plays a part. The boom position I believe has a larger part to play with the tensioner fine tuning that plus adding some dampening and ensuring a constant contact. If the belt's too tight probably the tensioner looses it's dampening effect. Of course there could be something else causing the vibration which the belt is just a victim of.

Thanks Rapto.
It seems that the tail boom is a little nearest to the wheels than mine. In wich hole in the frame is your belt tensioner? |

It's in the centre one, ie 4th from the front.

No. Despite the tail pulley seeming a bit out of round or alignment, can't remember which, no vibe troubles. I was going to change it to 6mm but all worked fine so didn't bother.

I had to cut some off my 800 boom as it was too long for the belt, before I cut it down when it was in place with just a bit showing from the inner clamp there WAS NO WAY the belt would even fit round the pulley lol, 30mm removed and now spot on, tensioner in 3rd hole and in centre of cutout and zero vibes etc.
hope you sort it out.
